Is it safe to exercise when you're sick?!

Question: Is it safe to exercise when you're sick?
I want to go running right now, but I don't know if I should. I only have a mild cold, along with a minor cough and runny nose. And I don't know if exercising while I'm sick is healthy or not. I really want to go running because I've been gaining a lot of weight lately, but I don't want to harm myself by exercising while I'm sick. Plz give info. if you happen to know a lot about exercising.

Answers:

Take the day off and hit it hard when you're healthy, working out while sick gives you minimal intensity and hinders your recovery process.

I know from experience! You'll be better off in the long run!

Yes, it is, but up to a certain point. You need to rest. If you exercise too much, you will expend energy and resources that your body should have used to fight the infection. Don't do anything too intense, just take a light 10 minute walk outside, with adequate clothing. Being cold is not what leads to infection, but when you're cold, your body has to work a little harder to keep warm, once again, spending precious energy and resources. Also, the sunlight may rejuvenate you.
