Will I gain weight since i just ate and i'm going to bed soon?!

Question: Will I gain weight since i just ate and i'm going to bed soon?
I just ate a whole orange and now i feel bloated, should i work out before going to bed? I don't wanna gain weight since oranges are high on fructose :S

Answers:

It doesn't matter what time of the day you eat. Your body doesn't know what time it is.
It's an old, outdated myth that if you eat right before you go to bed that it will sit in your stomach. It will be digested like normal; no matter what time of the day it is.

The only way to lose weight is to consume fewer calories than you burn. Feeling bloated does not necessarily mean that you have consumed a lot of calories. An orange only has about 100 calories, maybe less. A king sized bag of Reese's Cups (4 cups) has at least 400 calories, and at least 150 from fat, but they probably won't make you bloated.

The oranges makes you feel bloated because of the fiber and high water content. That's good, because when you feel full or bloated, you don't want to eat more, which over time, combined with exercise will lead to weight loss. However, the four Reese's Cups, while they may not make you feel bloated, are clearly not something you should eat often.

It's ok to have a high calorie snack/food every now and then, but doing it too often will cause problems.

You won't necessarily gain weight: your body does burn calories while sleeping, and an orange is mostly water anyway. Seriously not the worst thing you could eat if you like a little snack before bed. If you are actively trying to LOSE weight, I've heard that going to bed on an empty stomach is a good idea because, again, you'll burn some calories and if your stomach is empty your body will find a few fat cells to munch on.

As you get older you REALLY don't want to go to bed on a FULL stomach: like a big bowl of cereal or a mess of cheese and crackers.. (Acid reflux: really icky/annoying.)

nah, u burn lots of calories in your sleep..

Here's me: after i do my insanity workout, i drink my protein drink, which has 270 calories, a bowl of cereal, and some fruit, all at 9 PM, cuz that's when i work out. And i always wake up thinner in the morning

an orange aint gonna kill ya, now if u ate a bag of doritos before bed, or a donut, then you'd have a problem ;)

if you already worked out today youll be fine, plus one orange isnt going to do anything, if you ate a huge bowl of pasta and a steak that might do something but an orange is fine, just try not to eat before bed. its just one time though so you'll be fine.

No you can't.Don't worry about it. Fruits are high in fiber leads to good digestion.

An orange will digest quickly and there's no fat in it. Don't worry about it, lol. Just go to bed. You won't gain weight.

It's an orange. Relax.

no, it depends on the total calorie intake for the 24 hour period .

U gonna get phat.
Oranges r hi in calories you no.
