How to begin fitness training? (for the unfit)?!


Question: How to begin fitness training? (for the unfit)?
I want to join the police force and of course you need to be really fit and strong for that. I am very unfit and I want to start improving that.. how do I start?
I feel like getting a personal trainer now would be pointless as I am too unfit for any kind of strength training for anything.. I might do that later.

Alright, well there are a lot of exercises that can get you fit.
Start off by going for about a 40 minute walk/jog everyday, even twice a day if you like.
If your going to jog then head to a oval and do laps of the oval, but going at the same pace (not to fast or you'll get tired quickly) just the same steady pace until you feel you need a break. Set little goals for yourself, (say if theres a building on 1 side of the oval aim to get there without stopping)
Pilates or yoga is a fantastic way to build strenght, so check it out on youtube and see if you like it =]
Cardio is also excellent for fitness build up as you have to keep being active, try skipping at a steady pace and then suddenly changing to a fast pace for about 1 minute or however long you would prefer.

Start from cardio and lifting 5 pounds dumbbell. Jog like 3-4 times a week, and lift weight at least twice a week. Or you can try jogging and carrying the dumbbell at once, but it would be really hard for beginners.
