is it ok to have a cheat day and still lose weight?!

Question: Is it ok to have a cheat day and still lose weight?
i'm really interested to know. i work out for about 2 hours at the gym 4 times a week and eat 3 small meals a day plus 3 snacks, i eat every 2 to 3 hours depends how busy i am. i eat really really healthy like brown rice veg, whole grain pasta, salmon, lean chicken. and fruit. basically everything healthy but i am going to do a cheat day once a week so i can have a break and eat what i want which makes Sense to me, to give my body a break but i wanted to know if i would lose weight doing this? i'm a size 8 at 5 foot 7 and weigh about 9 stone but not sure about the weight cause i think going on scales gets obsessive. thank you really would love some answers

Once a week you should eat everything you want to eat or you call that cheat day just only for one day. We should give our body time to rest and eat what we crave for its how you cheat on your body's digestive system. Anyways, you don't gain weight by that because you'll be burning it down anyway.

A cheat day is necessary in ones diet and should be on a day you do not go to the gym. I am obsessed with working out, I work out 6 days a week and am extremely healthy but Sunday is my one day I eat what I want and don't go to the gym. You will still lose weight but it will show gradually rather than rapidly. Losing weight takes time, work and dedication, just give it time.

You sound a perfect Weight for you height. If anything , too light. Just carry on as you are but you should have a little treat each day to liven your food intake up!This doesn't mean that you have to go overboard and eat stupidly. But if you did it certainly wouldn't hurt you, if it was now and again. As you said, getting on and off the scales can be obsessive and you really should only weigh yourself once a week.

its fine to have a cheat day :) as long as your using the calories you put in you will not gain weight, sounds like your doing a good job, minimum 3 times a week for a minimum 30 Min's a time will aid the weight loss, and work at 65% of your maximum heart rate that is the fat burning zone anything more could lose muscle and is mainly for c.v gains good luck

What makes you think your body 'needs a break'? So long as you eat a healthy balanced diet that can only be good. The 'cheat day' as you succinctly put it is more likely to be less healthy. It's like an alcoholic saying, 'I have beaten alcoholism but I get rat-arsed once a month'.

You won't lose weight that week if you cheat that week.

Make sure you are getting 1400 calories a day.

It is ok to cheat, but don't overdue it. Think about maybe doing a cheat meal once a week - have one meal where you have some stuff you wouldn't normally have. For example, what I do is I eat clean all week and then on Saturdays at dinner, I'll have mashed potatoes with my steak and some dessert.
Or, I'll have a couple slices of pizza and a few beers. Just don't get nuts with it because you will blow everything you worked hard at to lose weight all week.

I don't do it every day, only 1 meal a week to keep me from going crazy. When I lost weight, I ate clean for the entire first 30 days - no cheat meals. Once I was past the first 30 days on my diet, I added in cheat meals as described above. When I got down to my goal weight and had my body in the kind of shape I wanted, I started doing cheat days - which is where I'm at now in my weight loss journey. But again, I don't go nuts. So let's say it's Sunday and I want to watch some NFL football - I will have some beers, eats some hot wings, a burger, some fries and finish it off at the end of the night with a piece of chocolate cake. Again, I don't eat a full plate of 20 wings or a huge thing of french fries - I'll eat a couple wings, a few fries and a small piece of cake.

I find this works for me when trying to lose weight and in help keeping the weight off. Good luck!
