Is it bad to eat under my daily limit?!

Question: Is it bad to eat under my daily limit?
I am 5.6. , 13.5 stone (187 lbs) and 19 years old. I used to eat a hell of a lot. Probably twice my daily limit every day. But now I'm dieting and exercising and my stomach has shrunk. I'm not hungry very often anymore, I don't even eat my daily limit. Is this bad? I don't know if it will stop me losing weight or not? Thanks for your help guys!

Answers:

Your body needs a certain number of calories a day in order to function (keep your organs working, heart pumping, etc). Usually, most people need around 1200 calories per day (it depends on your age/gender/metabolism etc) but going any lower than this for long periods of time can be dangerous and do damage to your body.

If you want to lose weight, I would recommend eating about 1600 calories per day and exercising for an hour 3-4X per week. Eat a balanced diet, and choose whole, nutritious foods instead of processed foods. Whole grains, lean protein like chicken breast, fish, egg whites, beans, fat free dairy products, etc, fresh fruits/veggies, and healthy fats like nuts, avocado and olive oil, are all important parts of a healthy diet. If you don't want to go crazy counting calories, aim to eat 5-6 smaller meals a day, about 3 hrs apart. This is ideal for weight loss. Try to eat only until you feel satisfied, but not overly full. Also be sure to drink water and stay hydrated, especially when exercising.

Best of luck

You're allowed about 2,000 calories a day, so eating 1,000 - 1,500 calories a day would be okay. If you eat around 1,200 calories a day and excercise daily, you could lose about a stone in 4-6 weeks. Good luck :)

the daily limit was made so people eat the amount of food they need. yeah you'll probably get skinnier by not eating enough but if you eat the amount of food you should and eat healthy then it will have the same effect:)

no, its called a limit and not a quota lol. as long as you eat more than 1500 cal a day. burn as much as you like :)
