Why do some people think it's 'ok' to be fat?!

Question: Why do some people think it's 'ok' to be fat?
I know that some people have it right (shows like the Biggest Loser).
How come there are some people who think it's 'ok', tho.
Like, they think people should be more accepting and not discriminate against fat people.
But honestly, it's soo unhealthy.
Why do these people usually just complain about how the media is brainwashing the culture with thinness, when they ought to just get up and go for a jog?

Answers:

Those people make excuses for their own laziness and lack of dedication and consideration to their body, and will take the easy way out in almost anything.

I guess because they believe other people shouldn't interfere in personal lives. Just like pro-choicers and religious people. It's your choice to be fat. Your question is kind of rude though. And yeah, people shouldn't discriminate against much of anything, unless you like eating people or something, then that would be understandable.

I do agree with the brainwashing though. I don't think the media/society should idealize skinny-ness so much. Some of those "skinny" people are more unhealthy than someone with a few extra pounds! But it's also not just "fat" people who are complaining about it. A lot of people do, even the First Lady does. It shouldn't be about "skinny=healthy", but your fat to muscle ratio and your diet and exercise=healthy

Why do people complain about other peoples choices? It's not their life!

Well the thing is, some people aren't really fat. Theres thing such as unhealthy overweight and theres being chubby. Just because people actually have a little bit of fat one those bones and have cheeks doesn't make them fat. But I do get your point. You should be at a healthy weight and if you're overweight, you should try to lose weight.
Overweight people use the wrong ways to lose weight and turn to throwing up and not eating ,when they should actually just quit the snacks and work out.
Being overweight is not ok, but if you try to tell that to them obviously it'll hurt their confidence.

Rudest question...ever. Who made you king of shape?

You could say the same discriminating things about brunettes, the blind, skinny people, people with hearing aids, people with glasses, differnt skin tones , people with tattoos...the list, like people, is endless.
You don't like what somebody's shape is?

Don't look.

Well some are lazy, others have special conditions, but mostly its because some people believe theirs nothing they can do to change the way they are because they've "tried everything". But in reality, there are various ways to go out and change your self-for better & worse, you've named a few. But yes its a sad conclusions many Americans are living.

I agree. Some people are just lazy. I mean, I know not ALL overweight people are lazy. I'm not saying that or anything! But to be honest, most are. They simply don't want to be healthy, so they just start this whole fat acceptance movement.

my opinion

Agreed, but some people don't like other people constantly criticizing them for their problems.

People don't think it's okay to be fat. It is something that fat people live with. Let me give you some insight on why people get angry at people who discriminate on people that are fat. Many fat people around the world are fat, and trust me they hate the look of themselves in the mirror, trust me I know this because I am one of those people. We look at ourselves and imagine how much different it would be to be thin. So we try our best to exercise, but I will tell you what, it is always a rough start. Many people that wish to lose weight that are a bit on the heavy side, can never stick with the weight loss programs that they are on. Why is this, well most fat people you will meet are couch potatoes, and don't have the kind of focus nor endurance to keep up with losing weight. So these people such as myself continue to gain weight and not exercise, we want to, but we can never stick with it. It's almost like smoking, as smokers can't break their habit of letting one off, we can't break the habit of getting off our couch, it is routine. Due to the difficulty of losing weight we get angered at people that try saying that thin is the best thing since crack, because we know it is too long and hard of a road to reach thinness, and we don't need to be told by some macho buff man that everyone should be thin. Basically those people on TV brainwashing people of thinness are mocking fat people in a way.
