Answers:

You have to burn 3500 calories to lose one pound of body fat. At the daily deficit of 500 calories, you will lose one pound per week. You're very close to your ideal weight, so you have to lose maximum 5-10 pounds of weight, so don't do it too fast!
1 pound per week would be fine.

the ideal amount of cals for anyone to lose weight is no more than 20% off their daily total.

20% of 1600 = 320. 1600-320 = 1280 calories per day. over a week this will result in 'some' weight loss, which will be lost through water retention in the cells that you burn off, some stored fat and some muscle tissue. it wont all be from fat.

the calories you eat make ALL the difference to how much body fat you lose, which is the most important thing when someone wishes to lose weight.

to maintain as much muscle mass as possible requires someone to lift weights or do some form of vigorous body weight training program at least once or twice per week and a little cardio training once or twice per week also. (if you just do cardio you'll keep a higher amount of fat because cardio does not build muscle). in a nutshell. the reason for using weights is to stimulate all your muscle groups and make your body realise is needs this muscle. and to maintain as much muscle as possible requires a person to eat a relatively high amount of protein in their diet, upwards of 20%.

the other spanner in the works is that if a person is sensitive to carbohydrate foods they must reduce either the amounts or types of carbs they eat daily, so as to help reduce their fat level. this means a person aiming to lose weight will have to carefully plan their diet out either daily or weekly, and count calories. if this is too hard then;

just eat three meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and in each meal include one portion of starchy carbs, two servings of fibrous carbs, one serving of lean protein and one serving of healthy fats.

It's a lot harder to see results then anyone first sets out. Firstly, you'll notice you'll GAIN weight as your body goes into the shock of starting a diet before you lose any weight. Over time, given your first month, you should see you're below your starting weight.

To maintain your current weight, it's recommended you do at least one hours exercise per a day. So, when you're trying to truly lose weight, you may need to up your energy to doing 2 hours a day, or more. The intensity and duration of the exercise will make a HUGE difference to how you feel. An hours walk has nothing in comparison to a half hour cardio work out.

Calorie counting, does help, of course, but you also have to consider what form these calories come in. Try to stick to a vegetable based diet. Lots of salad and water.

best of luck

EDIT: Actually, I agree with Leigh, you REALLY don't need to lose any, don't be so hard on yourself girl.

crazy dieting and excercising will only create problems for you. I recommend going to a proper nutritionist and chalking out a proper diet plan... stay away from those "magic weight reducer things"!!!
