fitness question- had 8 months off?!

Question: Fitness question- had 8 months off?
I used to be a real gym buff from the age of 16-24. Went religiously between 5-7 days per week. Did weights and 14-60 mins cardio per day.

Then at 23, i got a more intensive program which consisted of heavier weights and slightly less cardio (30mins of high intensity) but sometimes I stretched it out to 45-60mins by walking the remainder of the time if i needed a bit more fat loss.

Anyway, I started doing shift work about 6 months ago, and have had a really chaotic life recently with an alcoholic partner and new job and going back to uni. I am completely disgusted with myself because I pretty much stopped going to the gym. I still did exercise but was only about 30-45mins 3 times a week, and light exercise.

So, I have to get back into it and establish a routine again. Which i am starting to do, however i am terrified that i have screwed up my body and fitness in that 8 months off? Will it be possible to get back to my fit self again? I'm 24 and feel like I have permanently damaged my body now!

DONT worry :) when training it always takes a third of the time to lose most of the benefits but you have muscle memory :) which means as soon as you start training it will come back very very quickly, I am a heavy trainer but also have the odd 6 months off here and there which is actually good! it gives all your muscles a chance to fully repair and can actually bring you back stronger. im sure you will see the changes very quick and will get back to the fitness you had or be surprised and be even stronger/fitter good luck and keep up the training :)

If you want to do, you can do it.
Good luck!

you can eat how much you like if you stay within these 3 guidelines and still lose fat naturally and gradually. You should lose 10lbs each month on average.

1.eat only steamed lean meats, eggs, healthy fruits ,vegetables, nuts, grains, & yogurt..2. drink only water, juice, & milk..3. walk or do some physical exercise 1-3 hour every day.

(btw, recommend you also to buy an electronic food steamer ((Very cheap)) and a rice cooker as makes it very easy to prepare healthy meals ,,add a bit of olive oil and pepper, spices on top of steamed vegeatables, fish or chicken to add more taste if wish as these are healthy too.)
