Foods to help me gain weight?!

Question: Foods to help me gain weight?
So I'm a 13 year old girl & I weigh 80 lbs.
I have a high metabolism.
So I want to know exact names of foods & snacks or drinks I can eat everyday for me to gain weight. Or also energy bars or something? Well thanks!(:

Answers:

You do need to eat more if you wish to gain weight however do not eat excessive amounts of 'junk' food. The benefit of weight gain would be outweighed by other long term health risks - such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes etc. You also do not want to get into the habit of eating excessively unhealthy foods and then as an adult find yourself overweight and unable to lose it.

The way to gain weight is to have a higher calorie intake then output. Your 'high metabolism' may in fact be that you are a naturally active person. We burn calories with every activity we do so if you are the sort of person that will run around outside all afternoon rather then watch TV, you are losing extra calories without ever exercising. Make sense?

Some general advice:

Ensure you eat quite soon after waking each morning as this kick starts your hunger symptoms. If you aren't hungry yet, eat a banana or something similar and then a fuller breakfast a bit later.

Keep snacks on you, such as nuts, chopped vegetables or crackers so that you do feed yourself when you feel hungry.

Keep up the levels of protein (meat) and carbohydrates (breads and cereals) as these provide good calories.

If you are dangerously underweight or worried you may become that way, ask your GP for a referral to a nutritionist/dietitian as they can provide a detailed meal plan for you.

Good luck!

Well, there's healthy weight (muscle), and there's unhealthy weight (fat). If you want to gain healthy weight, eat foods with a lot of protein, and some fat (not too much, but a little fat is good). Now, jog and exercise whenever you can to put that protein to use. You'll get muscle weight, which again, is healthy. You don't want to eat fatty foods and not exercise. Sure, you'll gain weight by this but your chances of being unhealthy and contracting diseases like Type Two diabetes is much higher.

you may not need to gain weight - check with a basic chart. Just for reference, if you're 5 feet tall you should weigh 100 pounds, and then five more pounds per inch after that

however, if you MUST gain weight, eat HEALTHY foods. this may seem counterproductive, but if you eat healthy foods till you're full, your body will pretty much automatically become the right weight.
eat pasta with pesto and vegitables and cheese for lunches/dinner
popcorn for snacks...
it doesn't all have to be ultra-healthy. just avoid really unhealthy foods
