Ab crunches on the floor is an imbalanced form of training. It overloads your low back amongst other things. Use a Swiss ball instead, but not a cheap one as they not only feel cheap but also may split, which is not a great experince if this happens when on one. You will experience a whole new version of back pain if you go crashing to the floor.
Floor crunches is old school training, but many still do it - because that is what they know, have been taught for years and often resistant to break away from conventional habits( one of humans worst traits). People didn't know about smoking dangers until they heard the word's 'kill you' - but even now, a lot do not care or listen. Which type of person are you?
You may be better off doing some cardio training( bike, walk etc) instead along with getting off junk food and eating real food. Crunches won't lose your stomach fat, if this was your goal. This is a long time myth. A more holistic approach is required for overall well being.

You really don't "kno"? Your muscles are sore because they aren't used to that kind of work-out. Back off and do fewer the next few times until you aren't sore the next day. Then work your way up from there adding maybe another 5 reps each time you do sit-ups.

your doing them wrong, your back it taking all of the strain instead of your abs try this workout instead, it looks cheesy but my coach swears by it and she has the abs of a god

It is your muscles. It happens to me everytime I work out my ab muscles and work out regularly.
