How many calories should a 16 year old girl have?!


Question: How many calories should a 16 year old girl have?
I heard it was about 2000?

So if I were to eat 2000 calories, then work off 100, would the number of calories I have consumed be ats 1900 or 2000? I'm pretty much asking if it's 2000 after deduction from exercise, or not.

you should consume about 2000 a day. as you work them off you will lose them, which is good, especially if you are trying to lose weight.

The goal is to eat the amount of calories your body needs to sustain itself. For example if your body naturally burns 2000 calories a day then consume 2000 calories to maintain your weight.

Remember the body burns calories constantly even when at rest, then additional daily activity and exercise increases the number of calories burn. For example, someone with a BMR of 1300 and is moderately active probably burns around 2000 calories per day.



Your body needs about 1200 a day just to keep blood circulating, keep breathing and keep brain functioning.

Anything below this your body will interpret as "starvation" and try to store anything it can.

How much you need above this depends on your lifestyle.

If you are fairly sedentary and do little exercise, then a total of 1400 might be plenty.

If you are very active and work out or exercise a lot, then you may need well over 2000.

If you exercise moderately, then total of around 1600 is probably where you should be aiming.
