How fast should i drink my whey protein shake after my workout?!


Question: How fast should i drink my whey protein shake after my workout?
after i lift should i drink it in 15 or 30min or how long or how short i want to for best results pleas help.

Answers:

If you're at the gym, take your shaker bottle with you with the whey powder inside. When you're done working out, fill it from the drinking fountain, shake and drink. Then shower. If you don't want to take it with you, drink it as soon as you get home. The sooner the better but best before 30 minutes after you finish.



You should drink it immediately after your cool down. THis is the time your muscles absorb the nutrients and begin the recovery process. THere is no advantage to waiting 30 mins to an hour from what I've read. Some people will drink half of a shake right before a workout then finish it at the end just to have some protein in the system but whatever works best for you. Experiment for a few weeks and see if you get different results and go from there. I also heard from an exercise physiologist that chocolate milk right after a workout is better than any whey protien for recovery. Google it for more info if you want to know why it works. He tried it and said he would never spend money on powders again.



I do mine straight after. My instructors tell me i have a 2 hour window limit, but i always take it directly after because even if there is a 2 hour window my guess is that the 2 hour window starts to slowly close. Not giving you the best results.



Right after you shower. The sooner your muscles are repairing, the sooner you can work out again.



Within an hour is the best results, doesn't matter just as long as you take it within that time. I take it about 15 mins after my workout..
