Question: Can your bowels stop working after taking too many doses of laxative in one night?

I'm flipping out right now ): I've never had this problem before as far as I know. I started using this diet tea/ laxative stimulant herb (senna), I used it from time to time...in the last two weeks I started using it more..about every other night sometimes consectutive...well 3 nights ago I over ate and took about 5 laxative tea doses and went to the bathroom all night long...Now I haven't had a bowel movement in 3 days and I stopped taking the teas...I've been eating fiber, trying to take walks, prune juice, coffee, even epsom salt and nothing is working and it's starting to hurt.... ):

Could my colon be permentatly damaged? If it's not working should I just give it time and is it just taking longer to start up now? Or did I like kill it? ):

Its beacuse you were using on a steady basis. Not from alot at once. Your body becomes used to the stimulant and kicks back a bit on the working. You can develop problems but its usually for LONG time users. You'll be fine. I think.There should be a warning on the box/package about this from constant use. And there is an herb that 'is known in the state of California to cause cancer'. Gotts be carfeull with that stuff

i doubt it, you are probably just recovering from that, normally when you take a laxative it can take some time for that amount to be replaced, vice versa with anti diarrhea such as Imodium.

same exact thing happened to me, but i only go about once a week, sometime not for almost two weeks.. ive not been to the doctor though
