Hello Abigail,

To go off of what the other folks have answered so far, you gaining weight even with the shift of your diet and the added exercise, there are really many factors that may have contributed to your recent gain in weight rather than the desired result of losing the weight.

As mentioned already, cardio training would probably be better utilized here rather than just lifting weights. Using weights for resistance is good, but if you are staying the same size but gaining weight simultaneously, it could be related to losing the fat but gaining muscle in its stead which is not necessarily a bad thing but muscle is substantially more dense and therefore heavier (for the ‘same’ amount of ‘space’).

Sure, you can read books and pay for certain programs, but not every diet and/or plan is without fault even if it is really well intentioned.

For a suggestion regarding exercise, keep up the cardio workouts with a mix of stretching. If you still want some weight resistance exercises, calisthenics such as push-ups, sit-ups, and the like use your own weight as part of the exercise. Minus all of the annoying ads, here is a good list of some callisthenic workouts: http://www.healthguidance.org/entry/10923/1/Calisthenics-Exercise-Routine.html.

Concerning the food/health side of all of this, I would highly recommend the free resources from the Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF). Their focus is on avoiding processed foods as much as possible, moving towards real and nutritious filled foods. Here is a quick link to some points they suggest to move towards healthier food choices: http://www.westonaprice.org/abcs-of-nutrition/162-dietary-guidelines.html. Keep in mind there is an age restrictive topic toward the bottom of the list (i.e., alcohol consumption) and some topics that may sound a bit silly, but the resources that can be found on this organization’s website are well documented suggestions. There’s a wealth of good information there, and it is a good thing you don’t have to pay to get this information.

Best of luck in your searching for the plan that works the best for you, though your ultimate success is a healthy you. As you know, each person is different but I believe whole-heartily that your best bet in the success of your health begins with the nutritive foods you consume.

May you be continually encouraged in this process and find yourself in a state where you begin to feel better of who you are and not necessarily influenced by the standards this society places on its members (especially on the female portion, which is hit very hard on this subject).

Many blessings to you and best wishes.

Regards,
Trevor

It could be one of two things. Either u gained muscle due to your work outs, our you've been eeating tooooooo many calories even though its good food. Try limiting your food consumption and do more cardio.

muscle weighs more than fat. u may have lost inches but u have gained muscle.

That's really weird! I've only seen this when someone is prego but who knows?
