Answers:

I'm fat. I wouldn't say I'm proud to be fat any more than I'm proud to be human. I think some people who claim to be "proud" to be fat are trying to counteract the huge (no pun intended) burden that other peoples' judgments place on them. There are things I like about being fat, and things I don't like about being fat. I have lost weight in the past and will probably lose weight again--but the same for gaining. LOL

Personal experience

I was actually just talking about this with my friend recently I am pretty fit but I use to be 40 lbs heavier than I am now and just decided to lose weight and get fit so much much luck with your journey to lose weight stay motivated. Now to answer your question I believe that people who are extremely overweight just feel like they will never be a skinny person because they may have possibly been overweight their whole life and feel that instead of being sad about it that they should instead accept their body and be proud of it instead of ashamed of it because it has been the way they are. I do not believe that everyone should be a size two but it is a fact that being overweight causes a number of medical conditions and is just not healthy or conducive to living long life.

I'm not saying being obese or morbidly obese is good.
I love keeping fit.
But I do thin some people would lose their appeal if they were thin. Like some comedians.
Johnny Vegas for example, I feel if he was a really ripped up guy I wouldn't find it as funny. This is the same with a lot of people.
Also, It suits some people. I had a friend in school who was very over weight. I hadn't seen him for years after, he lost all the weight. He didn't look right

For some people, all you can do is be happy in who you are.

Id much rather be friends with someone who laughs at it, and isn't too stressed about their weight than someone who sits crying and finishes every meal by saying 'I'm so fat' and weeping.

I think people have learned to accept their weight. I don't thin the people that gout out of breath when they walk up a hill are happy with their weight at all but they feel like they have dug themselves in this big hole and its hard to get out of it. Most of the time the people who are heavy and are happy with their weight are the people who are not heavily over weight and have curves and are happy with their curves.

Nobody is REALLY happy & proud of being fat.
Anyone who *says* they are, is in denial, and so desperate to hide how unhappy & ashamed they really are.
So they put on the 'happy' act to over-compensate for their failure to control their weight.

Anonymous Fate: Are you kidding? I've lived in the U.S. all my life, and that's not what it's like. Every second the media is throwing pictures at us of models that should be in a hospital for malnourishment. Someone I know was told to go kill herself because she is overweight. Our society is teaching us to be always dieting. I don't know anyone that wants to be overweight.

I needed alot of help but I finally found the right program and I have lost over 10 pounds i 2 weeks this is a healthy way to loose weight please go to my site and check it out you won't be sorry

i dont believe your that fat.And i think its because some peope love attention and they dont care how they get it , it could also be a cover up so people cant really take the mic because there proud of it so they wont care.
hope that answers it :)

I think some fat people have tried a lot of ways to lose weight and have failed. Then they just decide to be as happy as they can be instead of being miserable all the time.

Actually they aren't proud, I think they just act like they are to hide the way they really feel. Sad, and if they are more than 100 lbs overweight hopeless.

- Good luck [=

Likely to be american...they think the bigger the better :). Answer mine?

people who r proud to b fat just dont realize the health risks. they dont realize how big they rele r.

hi

no self respect, they probably lost that long ago

Obesity, not be slightly overweight, is a public health and policy problem because of its prevalence, costs, and health effects. If you're slightly overweight that's OK. Some people just don't have bodies meant to be stick figures. The BMI is not dead-on accurate. But, In 1998, the medical costs attributable to obesity in the US were $78.5 billion or 9.1% of all medical expenditures!!! http://content.healthaffairs.org/cgi/con…
http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/obesity/…

While the cost of obesity in Canada was estimated at CA$2 billion in 1997 (2.4% of total health costs). http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/article…

They're the ones who when they get older- if they even make it pass 50- will be on cholesterol-lowering drugs, taking blood thinners, taking heart pills, taking anti-diabetic medications, taking pills for osteoarthritis, taking pills for obstructive sleep apnea, etc. that are by their disability insurance, Social Security, Medicaid, and/or Medicare. That means the tax payers will be probably paying a lot more in taxes to help them live a little longer.
They are the type of people who don't not even a little effort to exclude or limit junk food, fattening foods like milk and dairy, or either the sugar-sweetened beverages and foods.
