I can't do a pushup, any tips?!

Question: I can't do a pushup, any tips?
What kind of exercises can I do to make my body stronger in order ot be able to pushups? What muscles do pushups engage? Any tips? THANKS!

Answers:

This is what would work for a girl. Girl's, in general, are not pressured to know how to do a REAL push-up until they are probably in college. For now, what I have seen girls do is to assume a normal pushup position but cross your legs and put your knees on the ground. Really all you are left working with is just bending your arms at the elbow and trying touch your nose to the ground without actually touching the ground. The other person above was right to put your hands about shoulder length apart. This should help to progress.

Once you are ready to assume a real push up position. Both toes and hands hold you up, back straight, hands shoulder length apart, and then one dip at a time with your nose barely touching the ground and your arms bent at the elbow and then up. That will be the count of 1

good luck

You can start off by sitting in a chair and sliding forward to a crouching position while you hold on to the sides of the chair for support. Your hands will be behind your back. Slowly lower yourself to the ground some and then use your arms to raise yourself back up. If you can't do it with just your arms you can use your legs to help you lift yourself. This will work your triceps muscles and it will help you strengthen your arms so that you will be able to do push ups.

The muscles that push ups engage are your triceps, a little of your biceps, the chest and a little of your abs too. Push ups are basic workout moves but do so much for you. If you are working out make sure to incorporate this small thing (the push up) in to your routine and it will make all the difference.

it's ok if right now you cant do any push ups. you have to build your strength up to be able to something that may be a challenge for you. everybody has different levels of fitness. right now maybe you should try working your upper body with light weight dumbells, no more than 5 lbs. for now and then try push ups when you build up your upperbody strength
