What is up with people thinking that curvy is the same as fat?!?!

Question: What is up with people thinking that curvy is the same as fat?!?
Ive seen it every wear and its really annoying me. If someone is overweight theyre by no words curvy but unhealthy. Curvy in my opinion is a healthy women with either an hourglass or pear shape with a good booty and nice thighs, that has little to no fat in their stomach. What is your definition of curvy???

Answers:

Your definition is correct. Tbh curvy ppl are very attractive to me and most of the times they r pretty hot. P.S to me a women aint healthy without no booty xD

Your definition :)

Haha, right! it's because of the media..and ignorant people. My definition would be someone who is full figured. All I hear is like when someone says "She's curvy" and the other person answers "Right....curvy.." or "No, she's fat!" it's just really weird. And it's like this, if you're not thin you're automatically fat. That's how it is, even if you're overweight, you're considered fat. What's up with people these days? :)

Best wishes/Miranda

Curvy means you have a well-defined shape, has nothing to do with actual weight.

So don't get all definitive, it's not a weight-range(so it's not about fat), it's a shape.

EXACTLY! I have a hourglass/pear shaped body and people just LOVE to call me fat in school. But curvy girls always look healthier AND prettier than those anorexic, box-shaped twigs.

Most women who describe themselves as curvy ARE FAT..one 5'3" girl said she was 180- not fat but curvy...that called DENIAL

I think you may be wrong about what is and what is not fat. There are no curvy women who have curves which are only muscle....with the possible exception of female bodybuilders who take steroids though they generally look more like men than women. If you don't believe that all you have to do is look at pictuers of women in concentration camps or women who are malnourished and have been reduced to sinew and bone only. You can Google some if you're not convinced.

Women's curves come from fat. They have more curves than men because they carry more body fat than men (and because they have broader hips). Some women, like Kim Kardashian, can keep the fat in places which contemporary standards of aesthetics suggest contribute to beauty and it's hard to discern that it is fat because it's smooth and mostly intramuscular with no cellulite. But KK's booty is probably about 50% fat by volume. Another woman who is older with the same amount of fat and subcutaneous fat and/or cellulite would have a much less appealing derrière.

Being healthy and having a proper BMI means having fat. Being overweight means having too much fat to be considered healthy by NIH or medical standards. However, you seem to be promoting the idea that women who have body fat and curves are all unhealthy and that's just not true.

I can't define curvy without involving math, proportions, etc. but I would suggest that a woman would have to have no less than about 15% body fat to be considered curvy. High fashion runway models are generally underweight while Victoria's Secret models are normal weight with a lean look and plus size models are overweight and curvy. I would say "curvy" begins just beyond Victoria's Secret models and stops beyond the plus size catalog models. I think the appeal depends more on how the fat is distributed over the body than it does on how much fat there is.

Good luck and good health!!
