Can too much water kill you?!

Question: Can too much water kill you?
I just drank 4 liter of water, mainly because I was hungry and didn't want to eat, but now I've got a headache and I heard that too much water can kill you, is this true?

Answers:

yes ,but its great for fish...

Yes it is in fact true

Water intoxication, also known as hyper-hydration, water poisoning, or overhydration, is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain functions that results when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside of safe limits by over-consumption of water.

It's completely true. To simplify the scientific explanation no one wants to hear, your body's blood get really water so it can't deliver any nutrients to your vital organs, and your heart can't pump enough blood in time to replace it.

In time, the organs begin to die after a few hours because of the lack of vital nutrients.

Help me, please?

Yeah it's true. This usually happens when you get on certain drugs and you're soooo thirsty that you drink like forever and ever and are never satisfied. You basically end up drowning your organs. But I don't think 4 liters will kill you ;) You're safe!

IT'S TRUE!!! this woman entered a radio contest for her 2 sons. it was when ps3 first came out (that was the prize) and whoever drank the most water would win. she died! i couldnt believe it! i think she drank like 40-50 bottles of water one after the other

Yes, salts in your cells act like electric signals that maintain homeostasis (within the cell). Too much water dilutes those salts (your electrolytes) and the cell can't function. It's like a little factory without power
