Going to the gym for the first time, what workouts would you recommend?!

Question: Going to the gym for the first time, what workouts would you recommend?
I'm 15 years old and I'm about to go for the first time. What workout plans would be good for me? I'd like to get a flatter stomach and maybe tone up my thighs/legs a little bit.

Answers:

Cross training is a brilliant cardio exercise as it uses both upper and lower body simultaneously, meaning it burns more calories than some of the other machines that only concentrate on one half of the body. It helps to tone legs, bum, back, and arms. Make sure you stretch really well before AND after your session, otherwise you will be in agony the following morning, and it will most likely put you off going again. Good luck.

Personal training advice. :-)

Squats and leg presses are good for thighs/legs. Lunges are good too. And for your stomach, situps and curlups, and planks are great. Since this is your first time, you don't want to over-do it. Start out with light weights for the squats and leg presses, and don't do too many reps. Same with sit ups, and lunges. If you over do it, you could damage your body, and you could also end up being sore for about a week. Make sure you get advice on how to do all of these right, and drink plenty of water while you work out. After the work out, protein is good, so maybe get some beef-jerkey, and a smoothie to replenish yourself after a good workout.

Do something that suits you, and it also depends on what part of your body your going to focus on. Don't push your self to hard though I really hurt myself doing that before
You could try those rowing machines for your back and stomach, especially arms and shoulders.
and those machines where you close your thighs together to this point with the weights on, this will. strengthen your muscles in this area.
Don't forget to bring water, trust me you'll need it and you should take a shower or something before you go because you'll sweat a lot

Crunches and planks are good for abs. Squats and leg press are good for legs.

just dont make yourself so sore you never want to go back. and don't forget to bring some water.
