Is running the biggest waste of time in terms of dieting?!

Question: Is running the biggest waste of time in terms of dieting?
I have been running 1 mile 3 Xper week for 3 yrs and still have a gut.
I am 10 lbs overweight & think running is a waste of time.
I do eat whatever i want (steak, pizza, nachos, wings, cake, ice cream, pretzels)so is that the problem?

Answers:

Running is not dieting. During the week u need to relax with the junk and eat healthy u can have 1 day were u could chose any junk u like. Cut out all the junk that u mentioned and substitute it with Grilled chicken veggies, fruits, nuts seeds, salads tuna salmon whole wheat breads pitas lots of water stay away from fruit juices full of sugar.sports drinks are ok but stay with water and eat clean food.
Jogging/Running its not a waste of your time just change ur diet and you will have and see results soon and do ab crunches.

running is absolutely no use at all if you eat like that. when your on a diet, you have to remember that exercise and healthy eating is a package deal. lose one and nothing works. you need to cut down on snacks and have fruits instead. At each meal, never eat until you feel stuffed and remember that fruits and vegetables are a very important part of your diet. Some people may say that the other food groups are just as important, but I’ve heard of vegetarians, but I’ve never heard of carnivorous humans. When you buy food products, check how many calories or in it.
Good luck on your diet!

It can be. Some recent books on metabolism called the Paleo Diet shed interesting light the issue of exercise.
