is this a reasonable diet?!

Question: Is this a reasonable diet?
i am trying to lose weight for april/summer vacation because i am not satisfied with my size. i am 5'6 and weigh about 150lbs. I have a pretty unhealthy diet, i mostly eat pasta and crackers with some fruit and some vegetables, and fat free milk. what i'm wondering is, if i switch up my diet and change it to only fruit (strawberries, grapes, oranges, apples etc) and peas, lima beans, carrots, and ritz crackers/peanut butter...will my weight improve? what if i eat pasta, is that bad? or chicken nooodle soup?

thanks

Hey there!

The first step to losing weight is a change in diet. Exercise comes second. When you figure out what type of meal plan works best for you, then you may incorporate exercise. Until then, focus on your diet.

Both pasta and crackers can be good for you; you just need to be aware of what type. You'll want to stay away from white pasta and crackers. Look for whole wheat and multi-grain pastas and crackers. Simply remember, the browner the bread, the better it is for you.

It sounds like you already stick to a vegetarian diet. And that's good. Meat is what generally holds people back from losing that "last ten."

Vegetables contain high sources if fiber, which fill you up quickly and don't ruin any diet plans you have. The more you eat of them, the better off you are. If you find yourself struggling to eat vegetables, incorporate a vegetable drink into your daily meal plan. Plain vegetable juice is best, but the fruit and vegetables mixes by V8 are good as well. And fruit is good for you too. Just try to stick to more water-based fruits, like watermelon and oranges. But all kinds of fruit are good.

If you're not already, start drinking plenty of water. Two to four liters of water is recommended daily. Water is an excellent filler - Most Americans confuse dehydration with hunger, so they eat when they're simply dehydrated and end up gaining weight. Water is the essence of life! Remember that!

Best of luck! And stay to your plan! You'll feel SO great when you reach your goals.

A healthy individual.

You have the right idea with lots of veggies and fruit. Focus more on veggies though. Also, with your grains you should stick to whole grains. You won't eat as uch as you would of white breads and whole grains are better for you. You need meat, but not too much-about 1-2

servings a day with each serving being the size of your fist. You can have some fat in your milk, say 1% or 2%. Just don't over do it. Cheese is good, but a bit fatty. So eat some cheese and no milk or cut out a portion of meat.
