Are these healthy measurements/ how much should I lose?!

Question: Are these healthy measurements/ how much should I lose?
I'm about 5'6 or 5'7ish, 150 lbs, bust-waist-hip measurements of 41-30-39. Obviously I'm a little on the chubby side. How much weight should I lose/ what should my goal measurements be? (realistically speaking, based on my body type.)
If I lose 4-5 inches off my waist, how much would come off my bust/hips? And how much weight is 4-5 inches anyways?

Thanks!

Answers:

Your 41-30-39 measurements seem okay, considering your height and weight.
I’m only 5’5 and I get waist/hips measurements of 29/39 at my highest weight, at 130lbs, so my WHR (Waist/hips ratio...waist circumference divided by the hip circumference) is 0.74.
I had kids and my hip bones “opened” so I got larger hips (like Rachel Welsh after she had her kids) and I have a naturally thin waist (I don’t mean a thin belly, just a thin waist) so I end up with a good WHR.
Yours, at 150lbs and 30/39 waist/hips is 0.77 and anything in the 0.7 for women (0.9 for men) is considered healthy.
I would weigh 150lbs, I would surely get larger waist/hips than yours, and because I’m shorter (I don’t know if you had kids).
In the spring, when I lose weight and get down to 120lbs, I get a 27/37 waist/hips and a 0.73 WHR.

Now, I don’t get your 32F bra size with a 41 bust measurement?!?
For an F size, the difference between your band size (32) and your bust size should be 5 inches (US), 6 inches in some countries (like UK and Australia), maybe 7 inches somewhere else but not 9 inches! There are no laws about bra sizes so manufacturers can size and cut their bra as they wishes and the only constant is about you knowing your exact measurements (band and bust) on the day you’re going to buy new bras.

Even when not exercising, make sure that you’re wearing the right bra size and model, especially if you’re an F with a small ribcage that does not offer much natural support (32 is like you’re a teenager or an adult woman with very small bone structure). Get measured by a specialist. Measurements are free at lingerie stores and lingerie departments at the mall. Get fitted often if you’re either losing weight or gaining weight (growing) and even if you’re just maintaining your weight (about every 6 months) as you could have fluctuations in your body fat percentage (get out of shape, lose dense muscle mass and gain bulky fat reserves) while neither losing nor gaining weight on a bathroom scale. Even some women are prone to bloating when having their periods and get bigger and more sensitive breasts so they are more comfortable wearing their “periods” bra with a larger cup for a few days.

The best would be to know the numbers and learn how and when to measure yourself so you can do it on a monthly basis, when losing weight (all you need is a tape measure), just in case you have to wear a smaller or a bigger bra that you already have in your underwear drawer. When buying new bras, get fitted and go to the same stores so you get the same manufacturer(s). For the same measurements, one store (like Victoria’s Secret) might give you a different size bra than the next store (like JC Penney), because they have different manufacturers and different measuring systems. Just try them on and buy the comfortable one that feel like it was made for you. Sometimes, I like a particular bra and oops...just not comfortable while trying it on. Your breasts are not just about the size but the shape and other factors, like allergies...I think lace bras are very pretty but they irritate my skin, even the slightly lace tiny border...so I cannot wear them and only go for smooth, no lace anywhere. That goes with all my underwear and clothing. I can only handle lace if it’s outside my clothes and not touching my skin...surely I’m not the only one thinking that lace is rough?!

You should get bra support from the band, not the straps (the straps are just there to keep the cups over the breasts. A good support comes from the bra pushing up from the ribcage and not pulling up from the shoulders.
When wearing a new bra, you should use the first row of hooks. Then you’d have to gradually use the second and third rows as the bra loses its elasticity in the band after a lot of washing so you can still retain the same band support.

If you ever lose weight and go down in your measurements, and start jogging...still always wear a sport bra. Even A bra size women should wear a sport bra when jogging for simple comfort. The best sports bras are a pain to put on but then when it’s on, nothing moves painfully up and down as your breasts are held tight and flatten against your ribcage.
I pity actresses with bouncing (usually fake so it’s even worse) boobs having to run on a beach for the enjoyment of males. Even guys who run are wearing special tight spandex underwear to keep their junk in check.

Do not wonder and worry too much about your measurements. Use a tape measure on a monthly basis and let yourself be surprised, especially when you don’t lose weight on a scale for a few months because you’re gaining muscle mass and getting in shape.

Do not focus on the scale. As long as you’re eating enough to cover your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and not too much above that and that you exercise, you will lose one pound of body fat for each 3,500 calories of exercising, no matter what the scale indicates.

Losing one pound of body fat does not mean losing one pound of weight because it does not take into account muscle mass gain (which is very good) and water and waste fluctuations, which can be huge and are very confusing and irrelevant since only temporary because eventually, your body settles down. Eating healthier and drinking more water will make you lose water retention (less sodium) and waste (more fiber and better regularity).

Using a tape measure once a month to chart your progress will reassure you because when you lose half a pound of body fat (the best weekly body fat loss...1750 calories of exercising) but gain some muscle mass and some water weight so you don’t lose any weight on the scale…it’s a little depressing, when, in fact, you should be happy, and you get happy when you use a tape measure and lose half an inch somewhere, or even a quarter of an inch (like the thighs) even if you did not lose any weight on the scale.

I could tell you that I can lose one inch on all my measurements in 3 months, going from out of shape to in shape (getting in shape), doing aerobics to lose body fat and weight training to gain muscle mass, without losing any weight on the scale, just getting thinner, toner and stronger.

I can also lose one inch on all my measurements if I lose 10 pounds of fat reserves (I never have to lose more than that, at it is my weight threshold).

So if you’re out of shape and getting in shape in a few months, or are already in shape and just lose 10 pounds of body fat...get ready to go shopping for a size E bra (or DDD, or DD, or whatever size is the one under the F, depending in which country you live).

Now...if you lose 4-5 inches off your waist?!? Do not kid yourself and aim for unattainable goals...25 inches waist for a 5’6/5’7 person (btw, get against a wall and measure yourself...an inch in not a cm but 2.54cms, you can measure the difference). I’m shorter than you, I have a natural thin waist and still, my waist would be around 26 inches if I weigh 118lbs (the lowest I allow myself to go in the summer). At 5’7, you should not go lower than 120lbs or you’d be underweight and start to look like those anorexic celebrities.
You’re saying that you’re a little on the chubby side (I cannot say, I cannot see you) so you need to be thin, strong and healthy, not skinny with a 25 inch waist (or maybe use a corset).
