Do I need to lose weight?!

Question: Do I need to lose weight?
I'm female, 5'0'', 130lbs. I exercise daily and lift weights. I don't eat terrible but I am also not on a diet. I'm pretty muscular everywhere, but I still have some fat on my stomach and thighs, and around my face. My weight changes a lot, but I never gain, it either goes down or stays. Heres a pic of me http://oi52.tinypic.com/27zdqtz.jpg

do I look unhealthy, should I lose weight but continue exercising? Maybe its how I don't watch my diet that still keeps me the same weight?

Answers:

It's not really possible to tell if someone is overweight just by looking at their face, so I can't help you there. However, when your height and weight are punched into a bmi calculator, you have a bmi of 25.4. Overweight is considered anything over 25. So, you are overweight, but just slightly. A weight loss of only 3 pounds would put you into the normal range. However, if you are working out and lifting weights, it is possible that your body fat percentage is well within normal and safe ranges. You would have to see a doctor to find out for certain, but, if you have fat on your thighs and stomach like you say you do, then there is probably room for a loss of weight there.

Keep exercising, and track your calories for a couple of days to see if a slight decrease in your intake would be helpful.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is one measure of whether a person is overweight but it is not an exact science.

Typically, the BMI score means the following:

Underweight - Below 18.5
Normal - 18.5 to 24.9
Overweight - 25.0 to 29.9
Obese - 30.0 and Above

Your BMI is 25.4. This means that losing 2 or 3 pounds puts you back in the 'normal' bracket.

However, the National Heart Lung & Blood Institute in the UK states:

"[BMI] does have some limits:
* It may overestimate body fat in athletes and others who have a muscular build.
* It may underestimate body fat in older persons and others who have lost muscle."

You've said that you are pretty muscular. In which case, I would conclude that your BMI is overestimated and that you sit comfortably within the normal range. I do not think that you should go on a diet.

More importantly, you look just fine as you are.

No, you don't look unhealthy. If you feel good about yourself, don't lose weight. As long as you are confident in your own skin and feel healthy, there's no need to lose weight. Continue the exercise, but don't overdo it. Make sure you also eat enough food --- many people don't eat enough calories for the calories they burn. When I plateaued, I increased my calorie intake by about 100-200 calories and I started losing weight again.

No you look fine. It couldn't hurt to lose some weight (which is true for most everybody), but I think you're attractive. And you definitely don't look unhealthy.

At that height you could probably do with losing a few pounds. Can't tell by your pic as it's only of your head.

id do ya

yes i think you should
