Answers:

yes running on a treadmill is great. Also if your treadmill can increase the steepness than make it as steep as you can handle and u will get a much better workout.
for the situps doing 100 on the ball is good but you should do a more complete abb workout like 1 min of 8 different thing for example situps on th ball. bicycle ( where you lie on your back and move your feet like on a bike while doing crunches). regular situps for 30 sec then hold it in the middle for 30 secs. plank and side planks ect ect you can find a bunch of great abb workouts on you tube by typing in 8 min abbs or 300 abb workout

Here's what I'd suggest - if you aren't a runner and don't enjoy runner, rather you prefer walking at a fast pace over running then you should be doing just that. You'll likely end up with the same result as when running, many run for a less amount of time/take more breaks as it's higher impact. When you're walking, it's lower impact but you'll be able to continue on for longer while still having energy to do so.
Also, many runners find that because of the amount of energy it takes - it makes them extremely hungry afterwards and they end up overeating afterwards. Just a thought.
Cardio is what you want to be doing to lose excess fat though, you can strength train all you want (sit ups, crunches) but the abs won't show if you have a layer of fat on top. Good luck

All I can say it's time to take off the pounds and do it the right way HEALTHY
