Question: How to eat 5-6 meals a day? i'm an athlete need good advice please!?
i stick to a VERY healthy diet.. literaly lol i eat oatmeal, wheat bread, fruits, veggies (lots of green) turkey, salmon, talapia, low fat cottage cheese, low fat yogurts...somtimes a protein bar here and there.. I would say for the most part i eat 5 or 6 times a day but i'm still kindof confused. should eat meal be about the same amount in calories? or should i eat 3 meal based ones and 2 smaller snacks? Becuase i do a turkey sandwhich on 2 slices of whole wheat bread for lunch.. would i only have half of a sandwhich then eat anther half for the next meal? Also i eat low fat yogurts as snacks to... would i eat like fruit and carrots with it to make it more calories? help!!

Answers:

Eating 6 times a day doesn't mean eating 6 full meals you have it right by saying snacks since that is technically eating. Usually my snacks include things like protein bars or shakes, cottage cheese fruit or some veggies. I usually try to keep my snacks high in protein and I usually have a snack after 2-3 hours after a meal. But it sounds like you have your diet in check so it should be easy for you to integrate a few snacks into your diet, you may have already been doing so and just not realizing it.

eat lost of fatty foods and drink soda instead of water

Wow were very similar! Either way is okay. If you te 6 meals a day each meal should be about 300 calories per meal. If you burn off a lot of calories do to training make each meal about 350-400 calories because athletes generally need around 2500 calories per day instead of the 2000 per day due to the excess amount of calories burned in athletes. Jpjust make sure you split of the meals so you get enough protien and carbs per meal, and you get your fruits, vegetables and greens all mixed in. If you eat the 3 meals however make sure each meal is about 600 calories, and you have a mis of protein, carbs, greens, fruits, vegetables and all that good stuff per meal. Then I would eat about 2 200 calorie snacks. Best of luck!
