Can eating less and better alone help you to lose some weight?!

Question: Can eating less and better alone help you to lose some weight?
I know its better with exercise but will changing bad eating habits alone help out a lot? As of Sunday I decided I needed to change for good as my weight was topping near 244 pounds. My moms doctor gave her a plan of basically staying away from processed foods and sweets, and eating just meats, vegetables, and fruits basically. So I cut out all the bad stuff in my diet and am eating healthy now and noticed my weight came down to 239. I know most of it is probably water/sodium getting flushed out but in the long run do you think it can help me drop a good amount of weight? or is exercising still better?

Answers:

You can lose some weight by cutting down on calories. However, if you'd like to see a significant weight loss, you really do need to exercise.

You don't have to do anything drastic. Just going for a 30 minute walk a couple of times a week make a difference.

Yes!
I was roughly the 9st mark...and my bmi was slightly too high for my height..
I cut down on my bread intake, increased my fruit and veg, did no extra exercise and within 3weeks i had lost 5lbs...

I was delighted!

I then started my own routine again, and the lbs started moving up..

I tried the low bread intake again, but this time with exercise and stopped. By doing light exercise , after the diet. my wait has gone down and isn't moving up!

Exercise is definitely the key!!!

Well done so far!..Hope you continue!!
Best of Luck!!

It depends on your body. I know that dieting doesn't really do anything for my body, aside from making me feel better. But I exercise and weight just melts off and I can eat pretty much anything I want. If dieting works for you, that's great, but you should still be exercising some to boost weight loss and cardiovascular health.

you should do both to get maximum results! but yes as long as you are burning off more calories than you are consuming you will lose weight

Firstly so well done on losing 5 lbs! Eating less and better will help you lose weight and is really good for you but I would encourage you to do some exercise aswell. Exercise will speed up weight loss but it is also good for so many other things. Exercising on a regular basis is good for you heart, your bones, your mind and overall health. Not many people like exercising at first but as you become fitter you will enjoy it more. Walking is great and its free!! Another thing that happens when you lose alot of weight you will be left with loose skin which you will need to tone up. Best of luck and well done again
