Healthy eating & routine?!

Question: Healthy eating & routine?
Not long ago, I dropped out of college temporarily. I used to be really active when I was around the age of Sixteen, but now I've got older and I've become a victim of today's technology.. I know, it's a ridiculous excuse.

I'm about 5'7 and weight around 8 Stone ( 112 ) either metric unit, I'm pretty thin, but I'm slowly gaining weight, evidently. I went for a run this morning, lasted about 45 minutes ( this was the first time I had ran in months), then I came home and did several work out routines. I'd like to take the next step; Healthy eating, but I have absolutely no clue where to start! I heard pasta is good, but I have no idea what pasta to look for in the shops, what sauces I can have with it, and How many portions I should have a day. Also what other foods should fit into my diet? On a daily basis I'm talking about here. While I'm on the topic of healthy eating, how many portions of fruit should I eat a day? What fruit is best?

I'm really serious about this, and I'd like to get start as soon as possible before I become discouraged. If anyone out there is willing to help me, I'd really really appreciate it.

Answers:

Pasta is not really good. Even if it's whole-wheat pasta, you should still eat it in small quantities. Healthy eating means many different things to different people. The idea basically is to reduce junk food and sugar from your diet, reduce carbs, eat more servings of vegetables and fruits, and eat more foods rich in protein and healthy fats. Eat three times a day and make sure that your calorie intake doesn't go below 1200. Since you're active, you'll probably need 1500 calories.

I wonder whose idea was it in the first place that pasta is good. Unless it is rice or corn based there is nothing good in eating pasta that floods our supermarkets. Same goes to all breads full of gluten. My diet is very simple but powerful. The only gain you should notice will be your muscles nothing else. Fruits and veggies - as many as you want. Meat, eggs and diary products - only one portion a day. Green or herbal teas - no less than 2 liters a day. Spices - as much as you desire. And very important - CUT ALL SUGAR. Hope you like it.
