How much protein should an average male have daily to stay healthy?!

Question: How much protein should an average male have daily to stay healthy?
Dieting and exercising. I think my body is not getting enough protein because last night after my work out at the track, I was craving things with high protein like meat, milk, and yogurt. I'm making a breakfast that consists of about 33 grams of protein and am wondering how much I should aim for. I'm not trying to build muscle, I just want to be sure I'm getting enough for the exercise im doing. 6'1, 237 pounds and 21 years old. I usually do a 30 min tae-bo dvd in the day and hit the track for about an hour mixed with sprints and 1-2 miles around the track.

Answers:

People serious about gaining muscle try to get about 120 grams of protein per 100 lbs of body weight.

If you are working out, and you're just maintaining... Half of that amount is fine. 200 lbs guy takes in about 100 grams per day... roughly... (assuming 3 to 4 meals, 33 in a meal is good for your age and height).

If you're craving, proteins, you're likely needing something else that comes with those... fat, vitamin A or D?

Personal experience, and a lot of reading.

hi there, I was having this same problem for so long that it seemed hopeless. I tried so many products, nothing seem to work. Till a friend show me these tips, I was doubtful at first. there was a bit of improvement for the first 2 weeks, but I was feeling good. After dropping that initial weight, which was a real confident booster, I started to develop good habits, especial my diet. I couldn't believe I hadnt found this earlier.
