why is pesto sauce so fatty?!

Question: Why is pesto sauce so fatty?
Ok ok ok ppplz. I lOVE me some pesto sauce. But I happened to cross my little eye upon the nutrition facts, and I saw with my lil eye, 290 calories per fourth a cup!!!!!!!!!!!!! And 270 fat calories!!!!!!!!! HOW?? Pesto saucy is made o basil (healthy), parmesean(this particular bottle used nonGMO an rBGH free parm. cheese, so isn't that even healthier??) The ingredients also say extra virgin olive oil, salt n pepper, pine nuts(rly good for u) and garlic and rice vinegar. Where is the fat coming from??? And the sodium, 290mg?? Should this b good for you??

Answers:

nuts are fatty. As is olive oil...

Oh, and parmesan.

Just eat it, and stop worrying about fattyness...

Just make it yourself, and you can eliminate the salt.

Pesto's main ingredient is olive oil. And there's tons of sodium in cheese...and parmesan is one of the worst! Pine nuts (like all nuts) have nutritive value, but also contain a high amount of fats. Every ingredient in pesto, except for the basil, is essentially bad for you.
