Need advice on fighting food cravings ?!
Question: Need advice on fighting food cravings ?
food cravings aren't just random. It's your body's way of telling you that you're lacking certain nutrients. get your nutrient levels for vitamin B12, chromium, iron, and magnesium checked out by the doctor/nurse. they will take a blood test to determine if you lack any of them. if you're low in B12, the doctor or nurse can give you a B12 injection and/or an iron infusion, if you want....
...even Justin Bieber gets B12 injections :)
Also, studies have shown that often when we think we are hungry, we are actually thirsty! so, make sure you are also drinking plenty of water.
Sweeten things up with stevia instead of sugar.
Leave the house, listen to music, or do a hobby as soon as you get tempted to eat. the less temptation to snack, the better. to make food snacking temptations less, only buy groceries of what you need for that day - so you can't overeat. and never stock up your fridge/kitchen with high calorie foods that you know you're going to end up eating too much of.
don't eat carbs (rice, pasta, bread)! carbs give you a quick energy boost, but then a sudden energy drop (much like sugar does), giving you a craving for more food... protein on the other hand, gives you a slight rise in energy, but fuels you and keeps you feeling fuller for a longer period of time.
eat 5 or 6 SMALL meals a day, instead of 3 normal ones (each meal should have a little bit of protein in it).
alkalize your body. often when we have too many toxins in our bodies, we end up feeling more hungry. eat alkalizing foods (google which ones are, if you don't know). colon cleanses (the master cleanse) also helps to alkalize the body. ...suggestion: freshly squeeze a lemon in your morning water!
PS: don't forget about the first comment I wrote about NUTRITION (vitamin B12 and Iron!!) - in my experience, I find a deficiency in B12 and iron makes weight loss and food cravings much harder to deal with. so make sure you have enough of them.
The best way to fight food cravings is by acquiring new tastes for healthier food choices. Instead of focusing on getting rid of the junk food options put your attention on incorporating more healthy choices and gradually your body will desire more of the foods that nourish it and your taste buds will adjust. Sometimes just keeping your mouth busy by chewing gum or drinking tea will fight the urge to choose a poor food choice. You could also find a healthier food choice that imitates the food you crave. For example, the grocery store Trader Joe's sells baked onion rings with no perservatives and organic ingredients that taste fried and similar to the unhealthier snake food Funyuns.
For some people food cravings involve a strong emotional component so modalities like Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) have been very beneficial.
I use a formula to lose weight and it has worked for me, and for the cravings they have given me a free anti cravings formula for when I get those late night cravings (crab meat, or carrot cake...yea I know weird right lol) But it seems to work for me. The formula really helps me control those cravings so I don't put on the extra weight. Here is a link to my blog where I have before and after pictures of what i'm doing: http://hardcorecash.blogspot.com/ It's hard to fight cravings with no reinforcement. Maybe Ice cold water would be of help, I know that my friend uses ice cold water to help whenever he doesn't want to smoke and he gets the same I guess feeling from that. I hope this helps you as much as it has me.
Diet coke!! substitute diet coke for a meal, believe me it works!!
It has caffeine which helps regulate food cravings.
