Questions on Whey Protein and building muscle?!

Question: Questions on Whey Protein and building muscle?
First of all
I'm 16, weigh 160, and I'm 5'10. I've been doing cardio just about every other day and I'm and pretty much have been lifting a good amount of weights, though Im seeing slow results.

A couple of my friends suggested protein shakes from GNC. They suggested whey protein. Which product should I buy, when should I drink it, and for how long. Also should I be taking any vitamins...

I'm aiming towards 10-20 pounds of muscle gain. Can anybody help me out here/

Much help appreciated. :)

cardio every other day is not bad, but if you wanna play sports you might wanna do 20 - 30 mins every day at least. Lift more often, and start lifting heavy. 4 - 5 days a week of lifting will get you going. Make sure you do most exercises in a 3 set, 4 - 6 rep format with heavy weights. (the weights that you are using shouldn't allow you to lift them more than 6 times in a row)

Start eating more and eating more often. 5 - 6 meals a day is recommended (eating every 2 1/2 - 3 hours) Eat around 3500 - 4500 calories per day, and get lots of protein and carbs into your diet.

A vitamin supplement is always a good idea, whether you're working out or not. That little boost of everything makes you healthier regardless. Whey protein (as opposed to soy, milk and egg protein) is quickly and easily absorbed by your body, and is the most recommended as a post-workout protein. GNC is probably the best place to get your protein, as it sells a variety of the top-end brands. (GNC's own brand is well respected, too) It is, however, expensive.

Make sure you drink lots of water, especially if you're taking the protein shake. Protein waste management is hard on your kidneys, so give them a good supply of water.

man im in the same as you

i take isopure, and it is working effectivly

ull see results in a pair of months tops

any whey protein that says it's whey isolate and bioavailable on the box...other than that they're all the same really, just different prices because of marketing.

Drink it within 30minutes after a workout as that's when your muscles start repairing...other than that, just use it as a supplement to your diet...i take 6 scoops of mine a day, which is just short of 150grams of protein + any protein I get in my diet

Aim for 1gram of protein per pound of body weight if you're looking to bulk up like you're describing, you should see results a bit faster that way...probably the reason you're going slow is not enough protein or you're not pushing yourself hard enough on the weights...

my weightlifting "buddy" (i quote that cause he's more like a nag than a buddy when we're in the gym) wants to see results, and thinks that just going to the gym and lifting some weights will do that...and he sees me and complains he can't gain weight...but i'm adding weight to every exercise I do every week, regardless of if I can do it or not...if I can't, I try again the next time I work that body part...meanwhile he's still lifting the same weights he had 2 weeks ago...

Good quote to remember for motivation: If you wanna look like an athlete, you have to train like one.
