The oatmeal brand that is less in TOTAL carbs is the brand that has one ingredient -- either 100% rolled oats or 100% whole oats. You can't just say one brand because that same brand may make an instant oatmeal that has processed sugars and other processed flavoring in the ingredients that add to the TOTAL carbs. An example would be Quaker Oatmeal. They have an oatmeal that you have to cook and it has one ingredient -- 100% quaker rolled oats. They also have the instant oatmeals with processed sugars.

In short, read the ingredients and look for the brand that only has oats for the ingredients.

An oatmeal brand with 100% oats as their only ingredient is going to naturally contain high carbs because it is high in natural dietary fiber, which makes it a complex carb because fiber is a form of carbs. I am not sure of a brand that offers less carbs over another. I go between Quaker whole rolled oats and a whole oat Irish oatmeal, and they are pretty much equal on the amount of carbs. The Irish oats are slightly higher because they are whole and not rolled. So, taking an educated guess, I would say that oatmeal brands with 100% oats as their only ingredient may have roughly the same amount of carbs across the board, however, I can't say for sure because I am not an oatmeal connoisseur.



Oatmeal is oatmeal. Avoid the flavored kind like the kind you get in packets. I've also heard that quick oats are worse than old fashioned oats. Steel cut oats are even better. But there is no difference between brands. They don't have sugar but they are all pure carbs. But that's ok because your body needs carbs to function right.
