Don't kid yourself... there's no magic dust that you can sprinkle on yourself to make yourself lose 20 pounds (and keep it off!!!!) immediately. Sure there are diets you can do that will deliver up to 8 lb weightloss in one week, but studies show that women who do these end up gaining back not only the weight they lost but even more pounds on top of that. The only way to take off 20 pounds and keep it off--short of losing a limb, as someone else suggested--make healthier food/beverage choices and exercise.

In general, it's a numbers game: calories in versus calories out. If you take in more calories in a day than you expend, you'll gain weight. There are 3500 calories in 1 pound of fat. So, for example, if you want to lose 1 pound per week you should cut 500 calories out of your diet, exercise the 500 calories off, or do a fraction of the 500 calories with each so that they equal 500 calories expended more than you've taken in on average in any given day. There's a safety zone, too. It's not healthy to try to lose more than 2 to 2.5 pounds per week because you run the risk of putting your body in starvation mode, which makes it hold on to the fat that's there and pack on everything it can get from the calories that you do ingest.
