why does this happen? is it normal?!

Question: Why does this happen? is it normal?
whenever i do squats i get really really out of breath! i just did 100 squats and i feel like i ran 10 miles! whenever i do other things like jump rope or swim i never get this out of breath! i have to sit for like 5 minutes to catch my breath! why does this happen? is it normal? am i just out of shape? please and thank you!

Answers:

Squats work most of the major large muscles in your lower body. And if you did 100 of them (with weights?) that is A LOT of squats. When I do weighlifting (I'm a woman), I put a 35 lb barbell across my back and I'm straining after 10 squats (I usually do 3 sets of 16 reps, and I think that is plenty),
You've fatigued your muscles to the point of failure, which is considered a good thing for weight training. I don't think you're out of shape, it is understandable that you are tired. If you keep doing this routine, you will be less out of breath afterwards but it is still probably a very intense workout.
