How many times a day should I do weight lifting and cardio?!

Question: How many times a day should I do weight lifting and cardio?
Okay, so I had a baby 2 months ago. I've just started a gym and I want to lose weight but also tone up by weight lifting to build muscle like I had prior to getting pregnant. I go to the gym 3 days out the wk. I was wondering if I should lift weights and do cardio the same day or should I do them separate days? Also which should I do more out the week cardio or strength & for how long? I heard to lose weight it's okay to be at the gym for more then an hour but not for weight lifting. Any advice would be great Ty .

Answers:

HI,
If you go to the gym 3 days a week, it's ok to do your strength and aerobic training the same days. Vary what you do, in terms of intensity and variety too. So one day do more aerobic, the other do more strength work. This is how you "confuse" your body and then it will adapt, therefore you get fitter and tone up. Work all your muscles though so as not to get a muscle imbalance and risk injury. Warm up well before, but only gentle stretching, cool down and full stretch at the end.
Good luck, hope this helps.

You can do them on the same day but always weight lift last that way your body starts to use more energy into building the muscles back up rather then more exertion on the cardio after.

But it would probably be better to life mon, wed, fri, and do cardio tues, thurs.

As often as you like but take a day or two to relax. Not necessarily in a row.
