My period stopped due to weight loss...?!

Question: My period stopped due to weight loss...?
I went on a diet for about a year where I don't eat more than 700-800 calories a day, eat two snacks and one meal a day ,exercise for 1 hour each day, and cut out all junk food and meat products..I did lose alot of weight but now I'm worried...my period hasn't come for two months and when it does come, its always late..I know that if I started eating more my period would probably come back, but I don't want to eat more because I know I'll gain weight in the process, How can I make my period come back normal without eating alot..? Also, should I stop this diet?. and no....I'm not anorexic.

Answers:

yeeh., it does sound kinda anorexic since you dont eat much and you dont want to gain weight, but if yu say so then i guess not. if your period has stopped i suggest you stop the diet because it rules out the diet is not healthy and you have lost too much weight. if you stop the diet, continue with the healthy foods and only increase healthy food intake a little a day so weight does not increase, if you are still worried about gaining weight then increase exercise. and please if yu are anorexic and yu know on the inside that you really are then get help.

you are not having a period because you have lost too much weight and you are not getting enough calories at 700-800. You should be eating between 1000 and 1400 calories a day. You need a certain amount of body fat to have a period.

When you eat very low calorie diets this is what happens, and one of the many reasons you shouldn't follow very low calorie diets.

I believe that is a common problem.

when your body fat % gets low your periods stop
