I recently got a gym membership, and i'm wondering how many times i should !


Question: I recently got a gym membership, and i'm wondering how many times i should go?
I haven't been able to go much cause i'm balancing it threw college and work but i wan't to know

*How many days i should be going a week
*How long should i be there when i go

I've been trying to lose weight and its a stuggle thats why im trying to make the gym a routine.

Well since you're a girl, i can't give you much advice cause you're more focused on losing weight (guys usually want to buld muscle), but here's my opinion.

To lose weight, you need a balance between weight training and cardio, the latter being more important. Since you can;t go very often, I suggest you do your weight training there and cardio outside.

For a tight schedule, I'd suggest around 1 hour a day, three days a week. Do some light lifting, and don;t believe it if anybody said you'd pack on beef. You might, but you won;t look like a man. It will help you get toned, though, and an increase in muscle mass means an increase in your basal metabolic rate.

In simple english, when you get more muscle, you burn more fat even when sitting around.

For cardio I'd suggest a few minutes' run each morning. Wake up earlier, and run. That way you'll always have time to go for a run. If you can't go out cause of rain or snow or whatever, do jumping jacks in your room.

Here is me 2 cents,I recommend to only weigh you self once a month, gaining weight and losing fat can go hand and hand, muscle increases while you burn fat. So you may notice you fit better in to your jeans or shirt. Also depends on water retention, did you take any supplements, or last time you weigh your self it was in the morning and maybe this time it was at night. So it all depends. But don’t beat your self up about it. If you are eating right and working out you will see results. So put the scale away and maybe even take a picture every 30days and weight your self also and you will notice the difference. I would say 4 times in the early morning or late evening if you're a beginner. If you're advanced do a daily thing. Try the eliptica for an hour or see if they offer classes. Do one thing and stick to it for an hour.

a good estimate is cardio exercise 30- 40 mins 4-5 days a week

weight training 4- 5 days a week 40-60 mins

if u dont need to burn body fat thenjust 20- 25 mins



4-5 days a week minimum 20-30 mins workout
