Treadmill running.....?!

Question: Treadmill running.....?
I'm about to buy a treadmill since I want to lose weight. But I don't know if I should buy one, so now I have a few questions.
1) Has anyone tried treadmill running and succeeded at losing weight? In how long?
2) I just want to loose weight, so do I have to buy a really good one? I heard that the good ones are about $1,500 to $4,000. But I usually get bored quickly, so I'm just afraid that it would be a waste of money.
3) Does treadmill running help me to lose weight from specific spots, such as thighs, belly, arms, face?
4) What should I consider when buying a treadmill? Like do I have to check the belt and stuff....?

, I noticed that you are having some issues with losing weight. I am a personal trainer, and I can give you one solid piece of advice, you need to use both exercise and diet as tools to reach your weight loss goals.

I doesn't matter how out of shape you are, you need to begin somewhere. If you have health issues you need to check with your physician for clearance to begin exercising, but you should get started sooner rather than later. I found a site that provided very good guidance for those interested in losing weight, you can find it at the link below.

Would you consider a gym membership?
This gives you access to hundreds of pieces of equipment to work muscles and do cardio training all kinds of different ways.
The treadmill is one of six different cardio machines I work each week. This way I am using different muscles groups or using them in different ways each day.
The treadmill definitely takes the shock away from my knees experienced when jogging or road training.
My concern is most of these pieces of equipment end up as expensive coat racks.
Plus a gym membership makes you have to schedule your workouts increasing the odds of you actually working out. You also get a shower and maybe a nice steam.
Think it over.

I use my treadmill all the time, I personally feel they are easier to run on then outside or in another form. I think you would lose weight if you used it regularly and they are definately worth the cost! I have an expensive industrial treadmill (probably around 5,000) but I am sure a regular basic treadmill will work fine if you buy it from a reputable place.

Hi You face a hugh problem in finding the right weight loss program that works for you. There are so many out there. I have a friend that spent days and weeks and a lot of money searching and finding so many disappointments until he came across this great program. He has dropped 10 lbs. in his first week. I looked into it and was very impressed.

Good Luck

Hi I just bought a Proform treadmill on black friday so I could lose weight. I love it and it's the perfect size. Unfortunatly I haven't been able to lose weight on it yet because of a leg injury but very soon I will be able to start!
2.) You don't have to buy the ones that cost thousands of dollars. Mine cost $500 (of course it was black friday like I said) However don't buy a crappy one either because after you lose the weight you might want to use it to stay healthy.
3.) Well there is no such thing as targeted weight loss from what I've heard. However if you get a treadmill with an incline setting it might help tone your thighs and butt
4.) The main thing is consider the length of the treadmill. Make sure you have enough room to run on it normally so that you don't have to worry about falling off the edge.

Hope I helped!
oh and if you get bored easily make sure you have a TV or an Ipod to listen to because it probably will get boring
