How to make sore muscles feel better?!

Question: How to make sore muscles feel better?
I started working out again, and I'm REALLY sore. Especially my calves. I stretch before I go running and I've been taken some Ibuprofen for the pain. I've also put some ice on it. My left calve is really sore, to the point where I can't even bend my leg when I walk. Tomorrow me and my coach are gonna go to the basketball court and work out together and I don't want my sore muscles holding me back to much, is there anything that I can do to at least make them feel a bit better?

Answers:

You will find that you get used to it quickly and the soreness will soon go away.

However for temporary relief there are many over the counter rubs such as A535 and Icy Hot. If you plan to put any of that on before going to the court, though try to find a scentless one because most of that stuff smells verrry strong.

However, I would be concerned about the not being able to bend your leg, thats a little more soreness than I would think is normal. Talk to your coach about it before you continue your exercise regime.

I know what you mean about calf pain... I get it SO much when I run.

Take a hot bath and rest, putting too much strain on it will only make it worse! A few months ago I started running. I had a lot of calf and shin pain. I kept running, though, and didn't really tell anyone... I pulled a muscle the wrong way and had to limp for three weeks. It was terrible. Take care of yourself!

Also, eat bananas - potassium can help with sore muscles.

Me. And my coach.

ice and warm towel will ease your calves. true.. your gunna suffer, but the ibuprofen will make it less sore. also bathe with steaming hot water...not like a billion degrees tho. the soreness will last about a week and a half

drink a lot of water. when i do extreme workouts (4+ hours) i always drink about a gallon of water for the next few days. try getting some sleep, that helps also. you also ice it and stretching again should make it feel some what better

All the answers above are good. If soaking, use epsom salts, which help with the soreness. You can find them at your local drug store.

you,re gonna suffer. hot soaking bath. stretching, if you can. massage will help. elevate your legs as much as possible.

ice bath then stretch then hot bath then stretch and massage with icy hot or bengay
