300-500 Crunches a day; Damaging or Beneficial?!

Question: 300-500 Crunches a day; Damaging or Beneficial?
First off, no I am not trying to get a six pack nor do I expect to loose any weight by doing crunches alone. I've been doing anywhere from 300 to 500 crunches a day for the last 3 weeks, I've found that along with yoga, crunches reduce my anxiety/mood swings (I'm bipolar) and help with insomnia; plus they're fun to do =P But a friend of mine (Who's a CNA) advised against this because apparently it could ****** up my neck/back. Are crunches really that damaging?

If you dont do them properly, you bet they are damaging. But as long as your body can handle it and you are not forcing yourself, you should be fine if you study the proper way to do them.
