Would eating only fruits and veggies really work? (Not sure..)?!

Question: Would eating only fruits and veggies really work? (Not sure..)?
Someone said on another forum that eating ONLY FRESH fruits and veggies everyday will have you losing weight fassstt .. is it true? She said to eat them every two hours.. but that seems like a lot. What if I just ate 4 times a day? A fruit for breakfast.. small salad for brunch.. fruit mid-afternoon and salad for dinner? ....

And along with what she says, I plan to exercise daily... I'm not very tall, so I don't need to eat a lot.

Or does this sound better: a bowl special K cereal for breakfast.. fruit for lunch.. and a salad for dinner? I think that sounds like it would work better.. plus exercise.. good?

Answers:

Bad! Very bad. Even her diet is bad. You need a balanced diet to be healthy and not get sent to the hospital. The reason anorexics get sent to the hospital so much is because they get anemic really easily and with her and your diet you will get anemic very very very fast.

here is a healthy plan

Breakfast
Egg on toasted whole wheat bread(not white)
Fruit
yogurt

Snack
nuts

lunch
large(not small)salad with a small chicken breast, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes and any other veggie you wanna throw in and some balsamic vinaigrette(no cream dressing like ranch)
piece of fruit

snack
carrots and celery with hummus

dinner
fish with grilled veggies(this should be most of your dinner) and a serving of wild rice.

If you lose weight fast you are setting yourself up for disaster and can really hurt your body in the long run.

edit
special K is not good for you. It is high in calories and sugar and low in nutrients. Here compare.

Most cereal is not good for you so it's best to stay away from it. I only eat fiber one because I've never found another cereal like it but a lot of people don't like it so you have to find another way to get nutrients.

First, there are not magic pills or exercises to losing weight fast, I have tried all :)

The best results are achieved through persistence, however, persistence is hard to maintain.

The secret is to simplify things to keep going:

I recommend you this book:

I have followed its principles and have lost a lot of weight with it.

And no, I don't have any financial interest on this, I really bought this book and I got good results with less effort, I have tried all diets and exercises before (atkins, beach diet, low cal, gym, running, etc.)

Absolutely. Humans are designed to be healthiest when eating no meat. Just make sure to eat plenty of legumes and nuts for protein and healthy fats. Special k is processed, and actually has some sugar (refined as opposed to natural) so I would stay away from that. Try to go with organic as much as possible to get the proper amount of vitamins and less chemicals.

yes... and also good for detoxification
yes K is really good

You need to eat some other things. A little meat and a little carbs. : ) But mostly fruits and veggies would be ok...

Any diet works as long as you reduce the amount of calories your eating

To a certain point, it would. But, GOOD NEWS, you get it. With sensible eating and exercise at least three times a week, you will lose. As long as you get all your nutrients (maybe take a daily multivitamin with food), don't eat too little, and exercise, this will work. However, this person's information is slight flawed. Eating anything every two hours does not necessarily help weight loss. YOUR plan is much better and will guarantee success, but you need about 300-700 calories in each meal to be in good health and to avoid being hungry. A bowl of special K has only about 200 calories. A piece of fruit has only about 100. I would suggest fruit and special K for a meal.

Think of it this way: "x" is the amount of calories you consume, "y" is what you burn. Only if y is greater than x will you lose weight. It's simple math.

There is a correct way and a wrong way to lose weight. When you consume too few calories per day, your body thinks that it's facing a famine and it slows the metabolism, so that weight loss is more difficult. This ability helped man survive for as long as we did. Although food is plenty today, that feature has not changed.

Therefore, the right way to lose weight is to cut a few hundred calories per day and exercise. Doing one without the other leads to slow progress. Consume whole grains and more fruits and vegetables. Exercise need not be intense; twenty minutes a day three times a week will suffice. Keep to this plan and the weight will come off slowly but surely. Cutting 500 calories per day and exercising would lead to losing at least one pound per week. In addition, exercise helps speeds up the metabolism, eventually leading to quicker weight loss. But it won't happen overnight.

Although you may want to diet, but a lot of diets require you to restrict yourself to certain foods or keep a very low calorie intake, which is why many diets fail. You could eventually lose weight by starving yourself, but not without hunger pangs, fatigue and possible blackouts. You may not want to wait, but in the long run, losing weight the correct way is actually faster than starving yourself.

Furthermore, other weight loss plans require that you spend money on expensive meal plans or pills, etc. in conjunction with exercising on your own. While the exercise is free either way, why spend you money on unnecessary things? You can simply do a brisk 20 minute walk through the neighborhood (at least three days a week) and eat healthier for about the same cost as what you spend on groceries already.

Finally, throw fatty snacks out of the house. Chips or cookies will not hurt you every now and then, but why have the temptation? Replace them with fresh fruits that can be eaten by hand, such as apples and bananas. In addition, only drink water, milk, and 100% fruit juices.
