How do I gain weight?!

Question: How do I gain weight?
So, I have just recently met with my friend, and when I first saw him again, he did not only gain weight, but he also gained muscle. The last time I saw him, he was almost as skinny as I was, and when we met again, it made me wonder how he gained so much weight. My other friends just told me it was because he just ate and lifted weights.

I am sick and tired of being skinny, I eat A LOT of food (not junk food) and I want to get out of just wearing the same old clothes (polos), (i feel uncomfortable about t-shirts cause it makes me even look skinnier) so, how do I gain weight effectively?

Underweight people who want to gain need to be sure they don’t gain mere fat, although most can stand a little bit more. I'm glad you're already aware of the need to eat smart even as you eat more.

Begin by doing two things: eating two to five hundred more calories of healthy foods a day, and doing weight-bearing exercise. If you want to add a fair amount of muscle, you will need either to lift weights or to train on resistance equipment at a gym. (Used weights can be really cheap, and they never wear out.)

Add a glass of milk and an apple to daily intake, and go for a brisk walk. Or eat 4 ounces (cooked weight) of lean beef, white-meat chicken, or fish, and lift weights. Mix it up, so your body comes to like a varied diet and workout. Bear in mind that a lot of tasks done the old-fashioned way (housework, yardwork) are excellent exercise and get some chore done.

Essentially, any exercise that's weight bearing, whether its walking, jogging, running, weight lifting, tai chi, resistance equipments, BowFlex, etc. builds muscle mass, and extra healthy calories fuel the increases in muscle size.

Eating additional ‘empty’ calories, like fats, alcohol, carbs, and sugar, will also put weight on a person--in the wrong place. There’s not much appeal to somebody stick-thin with a gut. Your goal makes a lot more sense.
