Is a women's size 10 fat?!

Question: Is a women's size 10 fat?
I am 5'0 tall and I wear a size 10. I have a very small wait but larger hips and a booty! I was a size 16 and was happy and lost weight. I thought I was looked curvy and nice b/c I had a flat stomach too. But then I was told recently that my size was still too big b/c I am short! That really bought me down b/c I use to wear 2's and 4's but I don't ever think I can get back to that size again plus trying to maintain a size 0 or 2 would be hard. But what do you guys think? Is a size 10 still to large? I mean I am short but like I said has a lot to do with my hips and butt that even when I lost weight they did not decrease that much.

It is on the larger side. Though if your waist is under 30 inches then you are good. Once your waist goes above 30 inches your are at risk for diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

edit
kendra you've obviously never taken a health class in your life. That is like the basic of the basic.

This tells you the obesity size and the greatest risk factor size. It goes up drastically for women at 32 inches but you are still increasing your risk when you are at or over 30 inches.

Pre med student my ***. If you were in med school you would not have enough time to be one here. You have to teach at least 10 hours of class lecture along with your at least 12 hours of school credit. I'm trying to get into med school so I know a lot about it. Your waist line has all to do with your heart health. Why do you think doctors tell patients to lose weight or to lose inches on their waist? It's because Having a high waist has been known to be linked to heart attacks. There is no such thing as normal weight obesity. People have used this to describe normal weight people with a slightly high body fat percentage. If you actually did clinical studies it is painfully obvious that having body fat of over 30% won't have a waist of under 30. They are generally at the very high end of 'normal weight' and borderline overweight. It's called genetics and yes GENETICS can contribute to a heart attack but you are far more likely to have one if your waist is above 30 inches.. Your claim about tall people is not true at all. Look at Lima. She is far from anorexic and she has a waist of under 30 inches. Why? Because she is all muscle.

it really depends on how you want yourself to look because different people are attracted to women for different reasons.
if it is a health problem you are worried about than that is a different issue but you are fine as long as your diet is somewhat balanced and you don't gain to much weight and fat content over a short period of time.

i know people who like thick girls

The average clothing size for American women is 14.

Don't worry about it. If you're very overweight or self-conscious about your body, you might want to lose weight, but if you have nice curves and are comfortable in your skin, size 10 is perfectly fine! It's good to be healthy, and you sound like you wear your weight very well. Some people can pull off being a 12 or 14 and still look great!

it depends on your body shape. if its really hard to shrink your hips and butt, but you have a narrow upper body, you are pear shaped. if you cant get yourself back to a 2 or 4, shoot for a 6 or 8. try your best to lose what you can and maintain your weight.

its not really that large at all, im a 14, and im in high school. congrats on shrinking from a 16 to a 10 though! i need to work on that lol

I wish I was a 10! And that I could actually lose weight!!!! Your not fat! I wear a 12-14 and I am in the 7th grade! I am 5'5 and I have a big butt!! Do I look like I weigh 185 pounds?:

My fat life :PP

A size 10 is a really nice number for somebody your height! You are definitely not fat at all! And turning from a size 16 to a size 10 is a major decrease! My sister is a size 10 and is small and skinny as hell!

How do you go from a 2 to a 16? Damn. I'm 5'2 And I feel huge having to wear 5's.. As long as your happy witg yourself that's all that matters.

Britt sounds like a high school girl with a self-image problem. She has very obviously not had kids.

Anyway, while a 10 isn't terrible, (and your waist size has nothing to do with heart disease), it's a little on the bigger side. However your height has nothing to do with your pant/dress size, it's your frame. I think if you used to be a 2, you are probably a little overweight now. Don't worry about trying to get back to a 2 or smaller, though. A 5 is very very small, and a 7 is average.

EDIT: I'm a pre-med student. Try again. Your waist size has nothing to do with your heart health, and it affects nothing except your size. Instead, your health affects your waistline. There are people with what is called 'normal weight obesity' who are at a higher risk of heart problems and have a smaller waist than 30. It's excess fat and cholesterol, NOT your pant size. It's ridiculous to say there's a magic "heart disease" size number for everyone. There are tall, large framed-people who would have to me be anorexic to have a waist smaller than 32 inches.

EDIT: Maybe the reason you're only trying to get into med school is because you don't understand what it means to be pre-med. As in you need to get your bachelors first. As in, I'm a college student studying for med school, and not only am I not required to lecture anyone, I don't have the credentials--because I'm not IN med school. I understand what you're trying to say- that too big a person is at risk for heart disease. But 30 isn't some magic number. You can be normal-weight obese, which means your waist is smaller than 30 and you are at risk, and you can have a 30 in waist and not be at risk.
