Hello,
I am sorry to hear about your weight problem. I know it can be really difficult for you and you feel that you are losing your self confidence. You have made a great start in sorting yourself out because you can admit you have a weight problem. Chances are that you feel worse than people actually see you. I know that most probably does not make you feel any but at least you are willing to do something about it.

Before i go any further, just let me say that weight loss is neither quick or easy. It is a slow process, but if you stick with it you CAN lose weight.

You should aim to lose about 2 pounds a week. That may not sound like a lot but in 7 weeks you will have lost a stone.

So where do you go from here?

You have to have discipline to lose weight. But if you stick with it it will work.

Start by looking at your existing diet. Over the next week you want to try and get it down so that you are consuming around 1500 calories a day. Giving your self a week to get down to this level will mean that you will not shock your body so much. Start by cutting out any sweets, cakes and an empty calories. Try to eat only wholesome foods. Try to avoid ready meals because these contain many hidden calories. If you prepare the food yourself you will know exactly what is in it. Avoid fried foods and adding salt which encourages water retention. Split your meals into 5 or 6 small servings through out the day of about 250 - 300 calories per meal. Eating regular small meals means that your body will not tend to store as much food as fat. Make sure that you drink about 7 - 8 pints of water a day. This has the effect of keeping your body hydrated and flushing out any toxins. If you are feeling peckish then have a piece of fruit. This will give you the carbohydrates for energy and fiber to help you feel full.

With regards to exercise, try going to a local gym if you have the confidence. If you need to know how to do the exercises just have a look at the fitness section of my web site, i have put a link at the end of this article. If you do not want to go to a gym, then you can do some aerobic exercise at home or go swimming or walking. There many videos about home aerobics that you can get online, it just depends what you enjoy. If you enjoy it, you will be more inclined to stick with it.

Take things one day at a time and remember that every time you are exercising you will be burning the weight off. If you are going to weigh yourself, do it only once a week at the same time each time.

I am sorry that i cannot go into any more detail, i could write a book on this subject.

Have a look for ideas on http://ezinearticles.com/ there is lots of information on the site.

I wish you all the best with your weight loss

Here's a few home remedies for weight loss that you can try, it's free so why not:

Drink Green tea after every meal. This will help the food digestion and will also reduce the need to eat more.

A known remedy for weight loss is made with apple cider vinegar. When you wake up in the morning, before you get the chance to eat anything, drink 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed in a cup of water. This will not only help you to lose weight but will also help you to maintain your weight rather than gaining weight after a diet.

Good luck

it is a simple 'eat less, do more' - you don't need green tea, vinegar or any other quack remedies. Find an exercise you enjoy; as long as you move anything is exercise. Dancing? walking? Swimming? sport? whatever!

cut out the obvious; sweets, cakes, fizzy drinks, alcohol. Eat lots of fruit, veg, carbs, some dairy and a small amount of fat; total calories around 1800 a day.

remember you didn't get fat quickly and you won't get slim quickly, but take it slow and it will happen. Join a club if you want but they'll just tell you the above, save your money.

good luck.

GP for more years than I care to remember

you can eat how much you like if you stay within these 3 guidelines and still lose fat naturally and gradually. You should lose 10lbs each month on average.

1.eat only steamed lean meats, eggs, healthy fruits ,vegetables, nuts, grains, & yogurt..2. drink only water, juice, & milk..3. walk or do some physical exercise 1-3 hour every day.

(btw, recommend you also to buy an electronic food steamer ((Very cheap)) and a rice cooker as makes it very easy to prepare healthy meals ,,also, can add a bit of olive oil and pepper, spices on top of steamed vegeatables, fish or chicken to give more taste)

I was in a similar state when I was 19 and I decided to just sort myself out.

To be fair it was quite a simple process once you become disciplined. Just start eating only 3 meals a day including breakfast. Cut down your portions too. After a while you'll get into a routine of what food you like/don't like and how much to eat, but at the start it's just about eating less and eating regular.

Then you should start to do any form of exercise. Similarly after a while you'll get into your routine and push yourself to do more but to start with, try walking 3 times a week, joining a sports club (maybe something like badminton/netball/tennis) something not too strenuous but still good exercise.

If you stick to eating well and doing 3-4 bit of exercise in a week the weight will drop off. Just don't start eating treats/sweets/chocolate etc until you're into the routine, when you can treat yourself once a week.

So pretty much, there's no rocket science in losing weight, just discipline. Good luck
