One of my kidneys is not fully functional because it has a scar on it. Would this effect if I should take Creatine or not? I don't want to further damage my kidney.

No.
A huge number of people are thinking that if they take Creatine it will make them bigger and will cause muscle growth. But this is not true.

Creatine just gives the body more energy, and if you use this energy in the right way (better workouts) then this can lead to muscle growth but this, which does the Creatine is to give you more energy.

People may be are confused because after a Creatine cycle, they look bigger but this is not muscle tissue. This that they see is kept water caused by creatine intake.

With your problem it is better for you to consult with a doctor when you choice what supplement will you take to gain muscle mass.

Consult your doctor especially in your case. In my experience in creatine, I thought it was just junk. All it does it put on water weight and allows you to do one or two more reps. You will gain some type of benefit from it if your on a consistent weight training program and if you take some form of protein with it but all in all its not worth it. You will lose all the muscle mass a.k.a water weight with creatine that you put on when you stop taking it. Taking creatine in sports is awful because if you play something like football or basketball which recquires alot of sweat, you will cramp up faithfully after a while. This is all with the hope that your apendix won't rupture rom taking creatine and not drinking enough water. Just take protein instead. It will deliver safe and definite results over time instead of putting on water weight in a short period of time.
