The purpose of doing squats as workout? What do they do?!

Question: The purpose of doing squats as workout? What do they do?
Do they make your legs appear "bigger?"

Answers:

This depends on how you do your squats. Low weight + high reps. is a toning exercise. Your legs might not look bigger, but they will be more toned. Want tree trunks? Higher weight + lower reps. Squats mainly work your quadriceps,(the front of your thigh) and your gluteal muscles (your butt), and they work your hamstrings (the back of your thigh) as part of the motion of the exercise, too.

Squats can put the hurt on you pretty bad if you do them wrong. You can really jack up your back, for instance. But, they are the right workout if you want your legs to look bigger (or "bigger"). You may also try leg extensions and leg curls.

Squats require the use of almost every muscle in your body. From picking up the loaded bar (shoulders and back) o the squat (Thighs and calves) all the while your abs are engaged in mainitianing yur balance. It's not just a leg exercise.

it makes your legs stronger i dont know about any bigger, it makes them not look jiggly tho. which is cool
hah :)

they tone your legs. it doesn't get rid of fat, but your legs become more firm.

stretching? i think
