WHY am a not losing weight? I "race-walk" 1 hr every day, then do push!

Question: WHY am a not losing weight? I "race-walk" 1 hr every day, then do pushups, situps...?
I'm on my feet 6 hrs straight at my job on weekends. I eat organic egg whites, chicken breast, salads with lots of raw veggies, beans...so WHY am I not losing weight? There is nothing else I'm doing that can factor into this. I just don't get it. Any ideas please? FYI, I'm 5'8" weigh 175lbs.

Answers:

Weight loss is a matter of caloric intake vs calories burned. So let hit on a few points.

When losing weight, organic doesn't matter. You can still over eat on healthy foods. If you are trying to lose, 2500 of organic foods will still cause you to gain.

So you need to figure out what your caloric intake is.

Exercise. While power walking is great for maintaining general health, it is hardly exercise. To burn any significant amount of calories, you need to have a sustained heart rate over a period of time. The same is said of the six hours of standing. While it may be busy work, this is normaleverydayy activity and doesn't burn significant amounts of calories.

You have no strength training. Our metabolism is largely governed by the amount of muscle we have. Increase muscle mass by strength training, this will help to burn more calories at rest, as muscle is more metabolically active.

Unless you have a medical issue, you are simply consuming more calories than you are burning.

Some tips that would be usefull is that I personally think that race walking is a joke "no offense" and you will get alot more traning and durability from jogging and running. When jogging you use almost all the muscles in your body and it really works your core! :) this is very importaint and for the food you say that you eat alot of things, try to eat the exact same things but just a little less, instead of two chicken breasts take one, and try to make the sallas a little smaller, just down size your diet :) and then keep on doing the pushups and situps, but like I said, Running is the most effective way of getting in shape and loosing weight :) Also drink alot of water while working out, if you get de-hydrated your workout wont have the same effect on your body.

Hope this helps you! :)

it might be that your body is happy with its weight..you arent that overweight..in fact you seem to be normal weight.

however you should add walking 1-2 hours a day. or other physical excersise..standing is not really excersise,.but really you are doing everything else correctly.

you can eat how much you like if you stay within these 3 guidelines and still lose fat naturally and gradually. You should lose 10lbs each month on average until you get down to your natural weight.

1.eat only steamed lean meats, eggs, healthy fruits ,vegetables, nuts, grains, & yogurt..2. drink only water, juice, & milk..3. walk or do some physical exercise 1-3 hour every day.

(btw, recommend you also to buy an electronic food steamer ((Very cheap)) and a rice cooker as makes it very easy to prepare healthy meals ,,add a bit of olive oil and pepper, spices on top of steamed vegeatables, fish or chicken to add more taste if wish as these are healthy too.)

Maybe you are doing constant exercises and your body is used to it thus, you need to vary the intensity of your exercises. Also, perhaps you are eating more than you lose during exercises.

do sprints and weights. you need to speed up you metabolism.
by doing weights after your workout your muscles still need to be repaired and will use more calories.

im better then you.
