The best thing that I have found to recharge is believe it or no pomegranates and leafy green vegetables like spinach, collard greens or swiss chard (iceberg lettuce has NO real nutritional value, it's just water).
Now if you are like many people and HATE fruits and vegetables don't try to get electrolytes from Gatorade or enhanced water, they may have the electrolytes you need, but they also have unhealthy amounts of sodium that you don't need.
For the vegetable haters, eat unsalted nuts, like almonds, granola (not in bar form, the store bought are super unhealthy)
Here is a recipe for a healthly HOMEMADE granola bar:
What you need:
-Raisins
-Peanut Butter
-Oatmeal
-Honey
-Flour
2 1/2 cups Oatmeal
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup peanut butter
3 table spoons Honey
3 table spoons Flour
On medium heat melt down honey and peanut butter. Add raisins and oatmeal. Take off heat and stir in flour. Place in a glass baking dish (coat with cooking spray) and place in the oven at 350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes!
ENJOY!
My trainer says not to drink a lot of water/sports drinks after a workout, but rather small amounts of water. Instead, he recommends eating vegetables such as corn, carrots and green beans which are loaded with electrolytes.
Gatorade.
