if someone eats 1000 calories a day how much weight will they loose a week?!

Question: If someone eats 1000 calories a day how much weight will they loose a week?
Answers:

For your height and the activities you do it isn't recommended that you use this diet.

This is supposedly for smaller women that do little exercise yet you are 5'9" which puts you on the taller side of women plus you do a lot of exercise. So I wouldn't do it.

Remember low calorie diets will make your metabolism slower and that will make you fatter when you return to other normal foods.

To lose one pound, a deficit of 3500 calories is required. The amount of weight that a person loses on a 1000 calorie/day diet depends on how physically active they are, their resting metabolic rate, and the quality of the calories (protein, carbohydrates, fats, or junk foods?).

If you burn 2,000 calories per day, and only consume 1,000 calories per day, then you have a deficit of 1000 calories per day. Over the course of a week, theoretically this should result in 2-pounds of weight loss (7,000 calories).

I've heard that its unhealthy to go below 1200 calories/day, but I'm not a doctor, so I don't know.

Edit: well, that's a pretty strenuous regimen there. You need at least 1500 cal more per week , still burning muscle since ur in a severe caloric deficit ... that's 1500 cal x 1g protein /4 cal X 454 g /lb = .82 lbs, add that to the 3.5 lbs (you said ur 130 lbs) which makes:

4.3 lbs

Long answer:
Depends on a lot of things. I'll assume we are talking about you.
Looking at ur profile pic, u look like a young fairly slender woman.
Judging by this question, you probably don't do much exercise and want to see if you could lose weight dieting alone.
Thus, for an 18-35 year old woman between 100-130 lbs who is neither sedentary nor particularly active, the daily caloric requirement to maintain body weight would be about 1700 - 2000 cal per day.
Therefore, eating 1000 cal a day (would is basically starvation) would lead you to lose 700-1000 cal /day, or 4900 - 7000 cal per week.
Ur body will think ur starving, so u will burn protein ... not muscle ...for gluconeogenesis, which makes protein into a form of sugar so that our brains can survive.
So those calories are all basically muscle (protein).
Fat: 1 gram = 9 calories. Protein: 1 gram = 4 calories. Carbohydrates: 1 gram = 4
4900 calories / 4 cal/gram = 1225 - 1750 grams.
In pounds, this comes to 2.9 to 3.5 pounds in a week.

I would recommend doing at least 45-60 minutes of cardio daily to burn fat and eat 4-5 small meals a day with high protein, low carb

Its not about calories, people have to stop obsessing over calories.

calories is jsut energy and people are lazy nowadays so the energy isnt used and is stored in your body.
its about what your putting in your mouth, make sure its healthy, look at the nutrition facts. and make sure your getting some sort of exercise everyday so those calories will be used and your calorie intake/outtake is balanced

Hi, Roxanne!

Yes, it does depend on a number of things. You really need to take an overall look at your body and how much weight you really need to lose. Check out a few sites on the internet for more information on losing weight the healthy way. I added a place to start under, "Sources."

It depends, what is the previous calorie diet? If it's 1800 calories per day, then they have that extra advantage of not eating an extra 800 calories per day. Thus, losing weight. Also, try exercising.

Depends how much u exercise and where the calories come from. If you do exercise and eat only 1000 calories you will lose a lot of weight in the week. If you make those calories 50% protein 30% carbs and 20% fat (in your meals) youll see bigger results imo

1 Pound of fat is 3500 calories so based on a 2000-2500 calorie diet you would lose about 2-3 pounds per week, more if you exercise.

depends on height, weight, age, and activity level.

Depends.

it depends on their starting weight and how much they exercise....
