In your teenage years, you should not eat less to lose weight but exercise more as to not stunt your growth. Only cut back on calories if you’re eating too much (one of the main reasons you put on weight in the first place) so then you still eat what you need.

Your calorie intake would depend on your weight, height, physical activity and growth spurts.
An average 14 years old girl (5’3 and 105lbs) would have a 1,340 BMR.
Let’s say you would weigh 125lbs (because you want to lose weight), then your BMR would be 1,430 calories.
If you’re active, like you should be, and burn an average of 270 calories/day exercising and weighing 125lbs, then you should eat 1,700 calories, but you won’t lose weight eating that much.

You should eat enough calories to cover your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) or your body will adapt to a low caloric intake and lower your metabolism, making it very hard for you to use your body fat. And then, as soon as you would eventually start eating normally again, you would make body fat very easily, because you would have a lower metabolism and therefore regain all the weight you lost and keep going up, unless you exercise A LOT. Also, as you’re younger than 21, you need to eat more when having a growth spurt so you don’t stunt your growth (you get ravenous).

Women’s Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR):
655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - minus (4.7 x age in years)

There are three groups of people: one group who needs a lot of calories, one group who needs an average number of calories and one group who does not need a lot of calories (the taller, heavier and younger they are, the higher the number).

Teenage boys, active men, and extremely active women: about 2,200 to 3,000 calories
(Exceptions, like Olympic athletes might have to eat four times as much!)

Children, teenage girls, active women, and sedentary men: about 1,300 to 2,200 calories

Sedentary women and some older adults: about 1,100 calories to 1,300 calories.

Edit:
(About Hoo Hoo’s answer)
I’m an adult female. Where did it come from that people think “an adult female can eat 2000 calories and do a minimum effort day and not gain weight?!?”
If I want to eat more than in the 1,200s, I better exercise for it or I would get fat.
If I eat 1,500, that would be a lot. I don’t think I could physically eat more than 1,700 calories.

Typically, most girls that age need about 1,800-2,200 calories per day depending on their activity level. They usually recommend 1,500-1,800 calories for teen girls trying to lose weight, so yeah, 1,700 is good for weight loss (: hope this helped!

if you want to lose a bit of weight, but over some time then cut down to 1700 :) and do exercise and dont eat after 7pm

ans mine

me

At 14 your metabolisms running quite well, I know an adult female can eat 2000 calories and do a minimum effort day and not gain weight so yes 1700 sounds pretty good, if you throw in some exercise you could have more calories defiantly

You need to type in your age, height, weight and level of activity then you will know...
